I kinda
discussed this previously, but it's probably worth bringing up in this thread too.
Basically, I think ATRL equates high single chart positions far too much with other possible success, and often forgets that there are other ways that acts can experience success outside of single sales. For example, after a TV performance, we tend to sit on Kworb and watch the single gain a couple points and then after a day or two, discuss whether it was good promo or not (based solely on increased sales/streams). In doing that, we forget that there a bunch of other parameters that can be used to determine a success - increased social media following, general wow'ed-by-performance-ness, pledging to go see her live at one point, etc.
I sense that her touring market is now a little larger than we probably think it is. She spent a year off the back of artRAVE performing and being shown off to a demographic of people who don't really engage digitally (Tony's fans), who adored her, and then has done a bunch of stuff like the Oscars, National Anthem, etc. That impressed a bunch of people, and yet we couldn't track its success or anything by following the chart climb of 'The Sound of Music' album - it works independently of that.
Coldplay's US stadium tour (some dates last year, most this year) was led by 2 Top 40 US songs (both non-Top 10s) and a #2 album - I know they've been around longer, but it demonstrates that single success is not so much correlated with tour numbers.
I wouldn't say that a stadium tour is outside of the realm of possibility for Gaga, for sure.
