What people, especially Chris, really need to see is that Rihanna is in fact a feminist, she is breaking down gender boundaries in her own way while he continues to perpetuate old stereotypes which does nothing but make him look angry and jealous. Feminism isn't insisting on the desexualisation of women, it is the celebration of the freedom of choice, a woman can be a housewife or a stripper and still be a feminist.
Rihanna is a successful, beautiful and talented young woman and if she want's to sleep with numerous men that is her prerogative because it is her body and her life, as long as she is happy with her decisions and is comfortable in her own skin who really gives a **** who she sleeps with? Chris is over, he will cling to relevancy by name-dropping RIhanna whenever he can but the nail is already in the coffin.

I'm sick and tired of people reducing feminism to freedom of a woman to be promiscuous, because promiscuity is usually as a result of deep self esteem issues and need for validation from men and that my friends is weakness not feminism.
How can one reducing her self to a sex object to be used by men whenever they feel like be considered feminism?
Feminism should be about uplifting and bettering the lot of women and not encouraging acts that make women slaves to men.

Well, I don't know if Rih's a feminist. So I wouldn't necessarily take it there, but your assertion about promiscuity is indeed sexist and paternalist. A man sleeps with a lot of chicks, he's a stud. A chick sleeps with a lot of men, she has self esteem issues. If a woman has a lot of sex partners, maybe she just likes having lots of sex with different people. And what exactly would make Rih promiscuous anyway, when she's only had two or three steady boyfriends? Oh because she sings songs like Rude Boy and Birthday Cake, does nearly nude photo spreads, and is sex positive? All the major pop girls use sex in their brands. So you'd best be prepared to come for them, as well. You're completely missing the point of Chris' possbile **** shamming of his ex and its implications to make a silly point that has little to no merit.

Mess your argument holds no weight for the simple fact that you have no valid proof of her being promiscuous.
- You're basing promiscuity off an image she portrays in videos? Off the songs she sings? Notice how Chris is the only one to **** shame her and like clockwork he does it when he's mad or sees she is moving on. You mean to tell me a woman who can only be connected to 3 men constitutes as sleeping around and having self esteem issues, but one who is cited to have 10 boyfriends does not have any problems all because she sings country music and wears conservative clothing?

The notion that men do it ,so why can't women do it,doesn't necessarily make sleeping around a good thing, but on the other hand I agree with the fact that society has no right to shame a woman whereas they condone promiscuity by men.
I never said that Rih was promiscuous ,I don't know her personally so how can I judge her?
My view on promiscuity applies to both sexes,I just narrowed it down to the topic at hand. The fact that a woman is promiscuous doesn't automatically make her a feminist.Wether you like it or not there are a lot of factors responsible for someone being promiscuous, one cannot just be promiscuous for no reason at all.

I never said Rih was promiscious. For God sake I was responding to the post that equated Rih's alleged promiscuity with feminism. I stan for someone that has been accused of being promiscuous so it will be hypocritical of me to label Rih promiscuous based on rumours and even if it were true it's not my cup of tea.Secondly my main fave wears provocative clothes in her videos so it will be laughable if I judge Rih based on that.
My point is that feminism should not be reduced to the right to be promiscuous,That's my POV on feminism others might disagree which is fine by me.

Understood. Your views are your views, however it seemed like they were being directed towards Rihanna since that's who Queen Bea was talking about in relation to feminism.

I studied feminism at college and know what I'm talking about.
A woman has the right to choose how she lives her life without judgement, if she is happy with herself and her decisions then what she does is her prerogative, trying to peg women (or men) into specific gender roles and metaphorical cages is archaic and no-one has any time for it anymore. The only people who should care about who a woman sleeps with is her and her partners, it's no-one else s business and Chris Brown is despicable for **** shaming when he glorifies his own conquests. I didn't reduce feminism to anything I was commenting on a specific issue related to one woman and I said it is FREEDOM OF CHOICE, hence mentioning housewives and strippers, whatever makes a woman feel empowered, don't think that because you read one of my posts you know my life values

Not at all.I will only say such a stupid thing if am being messy or just for the sake of dragging, but clearly this is not the type of thread to do that. What Chris said was wrong and any right thinking person should condemn him regardless of how you might feel about Rihanna.

- I agree with everything you said. It's a shame society associates a woman being comfortable in her body with being a hoe. That is such flawed logic.

Power to tha people! I don't blame Rihanna for getting mad about interviewers asking about her personal life, it isn't relevant to Rihanna the artist, no-one should care.

Usually? Says who?
Sometimes it can be a product of self- esteem issues, but there are plenty of women who seek out sex for the same reason that men do; namely, because they enjoy it.
We shouldn't let ourselves get stuck in the mindset that sex is something that men do for pleasure and women do out of obligation. The idea that women don't/ can't enjoy sex is just silly (not to mention patronizing).
Honestly, why must we coddle women like Rihanna and treat them like they're being victimized? The idea that women are always victims and men are always predators is extremely patriarchal. It's the kind of mindset that feminists should be discouraging, not enforcing.

Enjoying sex and being promiscuous are two different things, I believe I have clarified my self in my previous post that my opinions applies to both sexes My main point was that feminism should not be reduced to the right to be promiscuous.

Yeah, sorry about that, I kinda jumped the gun on that one. I should have read through the rest of the thread before responding.
I concede that feminism shouldn't only be about the right to be promiscuous, and that Rihanna shouldn't be considered a champion of feminist ideals simply for exercising the freedom to sleep around. However, it is possible for a woman to have lots of partners without sacrificing her identity as a feminist. Promiscuity isn't necessarily anti- feminist.
