there's plenty that we can do (i.e stop buming music off the internet, go out and actually buy your albums, etc. etc.). The question is, are you willing to make the sacrifices

it's because people say that because the price, they don't buy CD's

Humans are cheapstakes, majority, CHEAP! If a bucket of money would be in the middle of the street, I bet you would see hundreds of people fighting for it, and someone stupid enough would take out a knife or gun, TELL ME WHERE THIS PLANET IS GOING, the crisis has begun, and this planet is yet to suffer the real things that are yet here, so embrace yourself and enjoy the ride...

Lol....
There is a solution...why don't they just make less amounts of each CD? That way, CDs would be rare to get, because they wouldn't be making them anymore; lack of production. But then in the long run, would the amount of small CDs sold equal the production/costs of all the CDs to be made/produced??
I guess raising prices of CDs is an option. Or just simply getting rid of internet downloaders...but no...I use that everyday.

I find this so sad. Especially for those trying to get into that industry...

Of course we would go for the money. You would too. But I get your point that there would be a few stupid people who take it too far.

I don't understand it. If artists want their albums to sell high, then why don't they stop releasing them to internet downloading sources like iTunes, Rhapsody, Napster, etc. That way, people will be forced to buy albums instead of just singles. Second of all, there are ways to ensure that people can't burn several copies of an album. Some artists have used technology called Copy Control on their albums to keep people from ripping the album. These solutions won't be able to stop illegal downloading, but it will at least help reverse declining album sales.

^I think some people have already managed to create technology to surpass/counter the copy control effect (or similar blocking software/code/whatever), and they convert the music onto a regular/everyday playable CD/MP3 file.

Higher prices for mp3 singles

Like Natasha Bedingfield's 1st album. I had to get the Now That's What I Call Music series to get Unrwritten & These Words on my mp3 player because it wouldn't let me put it on my computer.

The most recent (23) NOW! CD ****ed up the last 8 or 9 songs when I tried ripping it. It's horrible. AND my blink-182 Greatest Hits CD that my friend burned for me wont rip the last song right. All of that is just stupid.
However, I think all of this pathetic CD sales will eventually come to some good. In the late 90's, like with NSYNC and the Backstreet Boys, they threw two or three good songs, if that, together with 7 or 8 ****** filler ones, and the public ate it up like candy. I think now people realize that its not worth the 37 minutes of garbage for 11 minutes of good songs at 10$. In 2007, I have only bought 3 CDs.
Fall Out Boy - Infinity on High
Maroon 5 - It Won't Be Soon Before Long
blink-182 - Take Off Your Pants and Jacket
And my friend burned my My Chemical Romance - The Black Parade this year as well.

lol i bought a lot of CDs in 2006, first time in forever i've bought CD's like that I think. solution is lower prices for CDs. Make CD singles like $2.99 and full albums like $7.99 - $9.99, which majority of CD distributors like Target, Best Buy, and Walmart do. I can also see why because this is not the time to spend $15 on one CD that might turn out horrible, just good, or amazing. With gas prices going up these teens that are able to drive and take care of themselves will take the easy route and buy the $1 singles off of iTunes and go on with their life.
cds i've bought in 2007
January: Katharine McPhee, Nelly Furtado (for the 2nd time)
April: Timbaland
lmao
last year
January: Chris Brown
May: Pussycat Dolls
August: Christina Aguilera
September: Beyonce, Fergie
December: Gwen Stefani, Ciara, Eminem, Jay-Z
