NG's Top 30 Joints Of 2008....Presents : Number 24 & 23
24. Madonna Feat. Justin Timberlake - 4 Minutes
Released: March 17, 2008.
From the Album : Hard Candy
2007: Feist - 1234
2006: Rihanna - S.O.S. (Rescue Me)
2005: Foo Fighters - Best of You
2004: Jadakiss Feat. Anthony Hamilton - Why
Many people wonder what could Madonna possibly do to make another great album. Well, duh hooking up with the hottest producer in the game should do the trick!
4 Minutes is a great track produced by the genius Timbaland making Madonna's new sound a little more urban. Madonna and Timbaland make sure the debut track is filled with booming synthesized horns and electro-bass with a purpose of capturing the vibe of a house party. Beneath the upfront multi-layered backing music and Justin's dominating vocal, Madonna may seem like a guest on her own track; however,
4 Minutes is meant to be a collaboration for Madge to try something new or something she has never done before, and I think she succeeded that goal. The clip for 4 Minutes is great, it shows that after all these years, Madonna still has it! The clip is also directed by Jonas & François (one of my favorite music video directors.) Just one great collaboration after the other.
23. Coldplay - Viva La Vida
Released: May 25, 2008.
From the Album : Viva la Vida or Death and All His Friends
2007: Joss Stone Feat. Common - Tell Me What We're Gonna Do Now
2006: John Legend - Save Room
2005: Beck - Hell Yes
2004: John Mayer - Clarity
I think the dictionary should include Coldplay's
Viva La Vida under the definition of EPIC! Beginning with a brilliant string as Coldplay frontman Chris Martin sings, "
I used to rule the world, seas would rise when I gave the word. Now in the morning I sleep alone, sweep the streets I used to own."
Viva La Vida is one of those tracks that make the listeners feel good when they hear it on the radio. The track showcases perhaps Martin's best lyrical work on the album capturing a define moment of freedom as Chris Martin reminds us that in
Viva La Vida.. anything is possible. The track is influenced with incredible orchestration making it possibly one of the most memorable tracks I have ever heard from them. Viva La Coldplay for 2008!
Thanks for all the previous comments. Appreciate them!
