just because she's talking about making a video for it doesn't mean its going to be a single. how many artists have made videos for songs that aren't singles? plenty!

I think the next tour will take up at least two and a half years. Interscope will want to make BIG money off of this next tour, so it's going to last forever. Then she needs to take a break from the public, because even some of her most loyal fans are getting sick of her. Record during that time and then begin the "Gaga's Return" promo tour. So Summer 2015 at the earliest, and Christmas 2015 is best for sales.
It's not really possible to say when any trend is going to die for certain until we see clear signs of that happening. GME likely going #1 and PRA looking to follow it up don't really indicate a near death, though.

You and I is definitely single worthy. If there are really going to be 10 singles you and I will have to be one of those ten. You and I as a single will be good because it exposes a different side of gaga to the public. It could bring in new listeners and can appeal to different age groups. One of my friends, who HATES gaga, admits to liking this song. Another two of my friends who prefer country songs also love this song. Also, every middle-aged person who I know that knows this song likes it. I think everyone is underestimating the appeal of this song outside in the real world (as opposed to a POP forum).
All that being said, I think it should be released in the holiday season to bring in album sales from these new listeners. And although this song can get multiformat support, pop updates will be disappointing and the song will most likely need a radio edit since it's long. And it will probably end Gaga's run of top ten singles...
She probably chose it because the song debuted the highest of all other album tracks on Hot 100....(But that was because of promo for the song)- wrong decision in my eyes
