But because Miley is a white female, who rose to fame through a children's TV show, it's a big deal. But why?
She's at a different stage in her life. She is being the person she wants to be, not the person Disney wants her to be. If she was still appearing on the show, and trying to appeal to both audiences, then I'd see that as more of a problem. But she's not, she's having fun with her life how she wants to, using the career she already had (which, let's face it, would have died if she continued to create "children's music") to work with the artists she wants, and she's talking about the things she wants. It is no big deal.
Her fanbase of "children" have grown up too now. She hasn't targeted her music at that age group for a lonnnng time.

You are clearly not getting it.
Miley Cyrus is and has been an influence and was idolized by millions of little girls around the world and perhaps even boys.
But do you honestly believe if it had been, let's say, Raven Symone for instance nobody would be talking about it? Let's keep it 100.
She has grown, but she not matured. Talking about smoking weed and popping molly is not good for her image, not too mention, I'm sure million of those little girls still follow her even til today. That's just not cute.
Be an an influence but why not be a positive one? What's the point of stating you do drugs? To express your freedom? Show ppl you're a big girl now? Some things are just meant to be left at home. What you do on your free time is your business girl. The world doesn't need to know that especially if it's not a positive influence or it's not going to help your career. It's just tarnishes her image even more.
The girl has become a joke imo and I don't follow her and never have. I am 25 so I really only know of her from "Hannah Montana" & a few other songs after. These days, all I hear from her have been negative press. And the bad publicity is being more talked about than her actual music.
