If she just released her material without prior Payola/radio interviews/singles/etc like let's say Beyonce, I'd believe her... When Beyonce said F*ck radios, f*ck charts etc she actually did more than just say it, she completly took over her music career and went against her label advices and all the rules in hope that her fans wold support her, because she actually didn't care about charts anymore. She showed that you could remain a mainstream female artist and do whatever you felt like doing without bowing to labels or radios, Her 2013 release was the moment I knew she wasn't just all talk.. I am not saying Gags is the only one who cares about them, most mainstream acts do.

The more she says she doesn't care, the more it shows she cares

I think you're forgetting she has a label and team behind her that does care. Do you really think PI sounds like a super radio friendly guaranteed hit?
Kelly, my other fave, is also a pop artist that does the typical promo schedule when she comes out with new material. She also says she doesn't really care about how it does commercially. It's possible for an artist to not have that be their main concern.

I hate this mentality that artists should somehow be ashamed of caring about the charts. I sure hope my faves care about the charts and work their buts off to do as best as they can there.

I don't want to say too much because frankly it won't make a difference, but here goes..
There's an agreement called a contract and her label, Interscope, arranges along with her manager, the promotional schedule. Gaga has some say, but ultimately the label wants profits. Gaga's the product. She's being sold to the consumer.
I hope that makes sense for you.

I don't think anyone is saying you should be ashamed to care about the charts. Just that it shouldn't be your #1 concern, and it's admirable for an artist to just be concerned with making music they believe in and not care too much about how it does commercially. Of course they care a little bit, but it isn't a huge concern.

She said she woke up and saw it was #1, and she was happy. She wasn't perched watching the chart, waiting for it to reach #1.

Ok and?... she still looked at the chart. She still cared.
My point is that she should stop talking about charts period.

All the radio DJs tweeted about it sounding like a smash hit that is guaranteed to go #1. So what happened, it's suddenly not?

You're making less and less sense with each post, I think it's time to step away from devoting so much time to an artist you apparently dislike and maybe do something more positive, like pay attention to your own fave.

I don't remember anyone saying it was guaranteed to go #1, stop making things up. Go look through the single thread, most of us said it was different and didn't really sound like anything else on the radio right now.

So my other fave, Kelly is lying when she says she doesn't care much about how her material does, but she shows excitement when her material does well? I'm struggling to understand why you guys can't process this, it's not hard.
