Rihanna on the other hand proved she could remain relevant while maintaining commercial success. She has many smash hits and successful albums. Rihanna is the perfect popstar and unlike Britney, she isn't seen as a joke.

Sis, she has way more "smash hits" than BOMT, lasted way longer than her bubblegum teen-pop roots... you know, what, I'm not even going to try, her hundred million albums sold, multiple successful tours through and including her residency, and her consistent and continuous catalog of hits speak for themselves.

Sis, this thread is about the overall career, not who is currently more successful. Of course Rihanna is more successful; she's only 9 years in to her career, still promotes actively (relative to Britney), etc. Britney spent way more time on the charts than Madonna did in 2013, but that doesn't make her a bigger legend than Madonna.

Sis, TEAs have been used to compare album sales in the digital era to album sales in the pre-digital era since before your fave had a career It's been endorsed by Billboard (the official chart of the U.S.) and IFPI (the recording institute that releases WW numbers). They're official and a valid way to compare success. Basically, 10 digital tracks = 1 album sold.

Everything written is based in statistical fact. If that's what makes you cringe, then I'm glad that mess of text you wrote didn't use a single fact.

Britney has had the bigger career and impact and it's not even close. She defined pop music and pop culture for about a decade. When she was at her peak she was the most famous woman in the world. There were so many pop girls trying to be her it wasn't even funny. Even when she wasn't making music people were still obsessed with her. Brianna is a big star now but she has never had the level of impact Britney had her peak regardless of how many #1s she can get.

Britney may be flopping now but that shouldn't erase her overall success from 1998-2012. She was a HUGE name in music since 1998. She just had her first flop era with Britney Jean. Is the navy forgetting Music of the Sun?

Even if I mean of either sex or acts of any number, since I know I did forget to convey full context there, only MJ, arguably Elton, and ABBA fit into the "pop star" sector (and have outsold her).
