Actually, based upon the decline of album sales and the disinterest in Nicole:
200 - Her Name Is Nicole, selling 12 copies
Nicole buys seven, then runs into a Walmart in Alabama, holding 5 people hostage at gunpoint until they buy one.

Since were talking about album sales. People like Soulja Boy can actually sell albums, so that means people are liking them.

People really need to stop with this ****. There is no such thing as sucky music imo. Just because you don't like the artist does not mean they suck and vise versa. Just because a lot of people do like a artist does not make them good. It is all a matter of preference and people need to shut the **** up and just enjoy the music

IKR!!! LMAO!
Anywayz, on the matter of this thread, I have to say that the previous Hot 100 rules were the best and more fair way to picture what's really the majority of people's taste (airplay + downloads kinda having the same influence on the chart). The way it is now it basically reflects what the DJs think it's the best to play. In other words, it's not that the USA have no taste... It's more like the DJs play what they get paid the most for, and that's definitely not fair.

^ there is no point in saying that because the SAME people that rule the charts, RULE downloads, so what's your point.

Not exactly. The airplay chart and the download chart are far from being as similar as you're trying to say they are.

I love the Hot 100, only because I love Hip-Hop and R&B music. I wish the UK could be introduced more to this music. I mean yeah, they have some of the music, but the UK is just full of rock and indie. But forget about the number ones of the last couple of years, look at past number ones in the 80's, 90's and early 2000's. I mean the US have had some amazing number ones, but just because people like Soulja Boy and Flo Rida have had a number one, so what! Low and Crank That are amazing club tracks. They are massive hits, and people should forget about the fact that they are auto tuned and **** like that. People should just feel the beat and get into the song! If people are gonna have a problem with the current number ones, they should just remember about the old number ones, like Santana, Destiny's Child, Whitney Houston etc.

Hot 100 should put back the old formula! That formula makes Avril Lavigne and Maroon 5 hit number 1!

I never said they were similar I said the same people who rule the charts rule downloads. With a FEW exceptions at the most.

People like Madonna, Britney Spears and Coldplay would have reached #1 on the Hot 100 recently if we had the same formula from pre-August 2007. The first singles from these three - and many others - DOMINATED the Digital chart at some point and couldn't make it to #1 because radio is dominated by the genre you mentioned on your first post.
And you know, I could go do some research and mention more people, but I just don't feel like doing it, especially cause I know it won't change your point of view. So, whatever. Let's just agree on disagreeing.

^ Well I think that Coldplay will go to number one next Thursday. But based on the Airplay, which is currently dominated by Lil Wayne, it might not happen. I kind of agree with Anthony cos, the Airplay is full of R&B and Hip-Hop, so it's hard for the songs that are number one on the downloads like Coldplay, David Cook, Madonna and Britney!
