MTV is a struggling company, and they've always been desperate for teen viewers even since the 80's. I don't think they truly thought they were doing anything positive or effective, but were rather looking for a way to boost millenial support of their channel. They want to make MTV "trendy" again.

I go to school with so many white Trump supporters and so many of them about how minorities are sore losers and protesters are just "spoiled". I know people who were genuinely scared for their life and can you really blame them? Did you not see all the hate crimes that took place not even 24 hours after the results? I was literally called a racial slur two days after the election by someone on the street. You can choose not to believe me because I know how y'all love to call us delusional and say racism doesn't exist, but I was genuinely afraid that this would be the future of our country.

Not being afraid for yourself or others around you shows white privilege because you know you won't be affected. Minorities don't have that luxury.

That's not what the video said, but I see what you mean.
And I don't think theyre really using it to sell their brand, I think they actually believe that stuff. It's annoying but I don't really see what's "problematic" about it. I see what you mean though.
