This movie was brilliant. Enjoyed every moment of it. Shame it has a low rating, it would be much higher if it was not compared to The Hunger Games. I really was impressed with this movie actually.
Really hope word of mouth helps it next week.
LOVED the books (minus the 3rd) and loved the movie. It was a slow burner (i mean the book wasnt exactly ACTION OACKED 24/7 either) so i already knew what to expect. i think they did a great job.
I think one of the things they did wrong with the movie was underdevelop all the Dauntless initiates besides Four. They could've hinted more at Al liking Tris and made Peter more cruel like in the book.

my parents saw it this week (without me and I'm still mad) and the main thing they told me was that it included almost everything in the book but then left little room to develop anyone except Tris and Four. like the emotional depth wasn't all there and what was there was a lot of content from the book.
I saw it last night and I think they left out A LOT of major scenes that happened in the book, but I understand they only have 2.5 hours to capture this entire book, so overall it was a good movie. I'd give it a B.
I've already seen it (twice). I saw it prior to looking at the RT scores (which are now higher) and I think it's deserving of a more fresh rating. Don't rely on RT to tell you whether you should see it in theaters or not. make your own decision... that's what being "divergent" is all about. are you a slave to the masses or can you choose for yourself?
I would give the movie a solid b. The visuals were great and the acting was amazing, especially from shailene. The problem with the film was the writing and the dialogue was cheesy. Hope with the next one they fine tune that
also I do not get the hunger games comparisons. I never felt like this film was trying to be that
glad that it will do at leadt 50 million this weekend. Hopefully the word of mouth may help it stabilize since it has an a cinemascore.
Not surprised, cuz I doubt many critics watch franchises or movies that have mark "fantasy" or "action" in genre graph - they don't need it, they've decided already that must be unworthy.
Still, I'm a bit irritated, like... they filmed smth like "City of Bones", now they make the film version of this one, but Scott Westerfeld remains ignored.
Not when it already outgrossed The Host entire's box office
And with one day it already outgrossed MI's first weekend WW

If Divergent plays like The Hunger Games, it will wind up with around $52 million for the weekend. That seems likely, given the demographic breakdown: the movie attracted more men than expected (41 percent), and was split evenly between those over and under 25 years of age. Combine that with an "A" CinemaScore, and Divergent may not be as frontloaded as its genre and poor reviews suggested.
The movie was amazing. So accurate to the book. I went to the 6:00 showing and the theater was packed. Really good pacing, it didn't feel like 2 hrs. They left out 2-3 scenes from the book, but it was a solid 1st adaptation. better than the first hunger games and these other YA flops.
Audiences like it, which is what really matters. Hope the box office is decent for the weekend.
