Thoughts
* Christoph Waltz, Mo'Nique = totally deserved
I'm glad it was the performance theirselves that shined in these cases. They were just overwhelmingly wonderful.
* Up was the most secure "lock" for Best Animated Feature, but I wanted Fantastic Mr. Fox to win, in my dreams.
* The music categories were the best choices: The Weary Kind and Up <3
* Screenplay categories were some of the big surprises of the night.
Tarantino was completely robbed tonight, he deserved the Original Screenplay award but instead the Academy let itself go with the flow of The Hurt Locker love and award it with something it didn't deserve (they awarded it too with Sound Mixind and Sound Editing.. wtf?). Also it was expected that Up In The Air would win Adapted Screenplay but I'm happy Precious won. I prefer it.
* The Foreign Language Film win will unleash a huge debate over whether the rules of the category should be changed or not. France and Germany were the obvious winners, with strong support from precursors, and Argentina seemed to come out of nowhere.
* Academy Award Winner Sandra Bullock. ARE YOU FREAKING KIDDING ME?
* The Hurt Locker best picture? Mmm. Like I've said many times, I understand how the film is so succesful in the United States, it has a very American spirit, but it does not have a worldwide appeal and it does not give justice to the history of filmmaking. It will be forgotten easily from here to years to come.
How will we remember this night in few years?
* INGLOURIOUS BASTERDS, ONE OF THE BEST FILMS EVER MADE, WAS COMPLETELY SNUBBED.
* AVATAR, THE FILM THAT EVERYONE AND THEIR MOTHERS WILL REMEMBER FOR GENERATIONS TO COME, WAS NOT GIVEN JUSTICE.
