Right? Singles are supposed to sell albums. Not the other way around. The fact that Katy sold so many copies of those 2 songs yet not even 1/4 of the people who bought them (WW) bothered with the album while ARTPOP was bought by half the people who bought Applause.
Gaga and Katy are direct competitors tho. Otherwise why would you say that Katy ended Gaga and blah blah? Adele does different kind of music and is in her own lane.
But it still doesn't mean anything imo.

It's funny the Academy actually went with Gaga when she, according to her haters was no longer an A-lister after ARTPOP happened. I mean they could've easily asked Beyonce, Xtina, other "A-list" vocalists to perform that prestigious tribute but gags ha Z-list powah I guess

How many time does it need to be repeated Rita performed because she sang on one of the nominated songs same went with Glory. GaGa, however, was invited by the Academy to sing a tribute. Do you really think they would out of the blue invite someone like Rita to perform ????
To be quite honest, most of the pop girls in general are seen as low-brow B-listers. I don't think many people would put what Miley does for a living on the same echelon as Meryl Streep's craft. The few exceptions are Beyonce, Gaga and Adele.
