.
And when you compare the hype + promo campaign to Gaga's, it pales in comparison...

Bunch of screaming girls. Till at one point they had to cancel a tour because of how loud it was.
Album #1 - #3 defined teeny-boppers music in '50s/'60s. They also had movies about them. The teen-stars marketing strategy that you see right now, those ppl just copied it from the proven uber-successful system first applied to Beatles.
Back in the '60s, ask people anywhere what kind of music that they like, the answers you'll get would probably similar to: "other than The Beatles". People wrote them off as teen-fads. Until album #4, people started to listen to them. Then finally, they gave society Sgt. Pepper. People who didn't want to admit that they were wrong, dealt with it by applauding the producer of the record. And you've known what happened after that.
Now go learn about Dylan & Mitchell again, Taylor.

Yes, there is no doubt that Taylor Swift is one of the smartest girls in the music industry nowadays. Many people just write her off as a pop ripoff after she made her crossover, but I see her a lot more than just a girl who attracts millions of teenagers.
The woman will become a legend in the future. Her songs are relatable (and I'm a guy saying this), genuine and from the heart. They come from inside, and not some machine. The lyrics are HERS (especially present on Speak Now), no one elses. She knows her music in and out like I know the back of my hand. That's what defines a true artist.
While she will win no prizes for vocal performance, her overall status as an artist is beyond impressive. She writes, she sings AND she co-produces. Not many can compare to her.
I have great respect for anyone who writes their own material. That is one of the reasons why Avril is and always will be my #1 (apart from growing up with her, but that's another story).
Taylor is my #2 before anyone else because her music is true, her heart is gold and and her head is in its place.

It depends when she released and what type of promo and hype she gets.
Speak Now was certainly riding off the success of Fearless, and she had a ton of promo, too. Let's not forget about the first single. How much success will that achieve? It's too early to tell.
