Let's not act like Turkey is the safe haven for all oppressed people or minorities.
Quote:
LGBT persons in Turkey may face discrimination, harassment and even violence from their relatives, neighbors, co-workers, bosses, employees, teachers, and even members of the Turkish police. Homosexuality is widely a taboo subject in Turkey and the culture of "honour killings" can be observed in Turkish society families murdering members (usually female) who engage in sexual/moral behaviours regarded as inappropriate.
The death of Ahmet Yildiz, 26, may be the first known example of an honour killing with gay male victim. Studies for the years 2007–2009 that the German Democratic Turkey Forum prepared show 13 killings in 2007, 5 in 2008 and at least 4 killings in 2009 related to the sexual identity of the victims. On 21 May 2008 the New York-based organization Human Rights Watch published a report entitled "We Need a Law for Liberation". The report documents how gay men and transgender people face beatings, robberies, police harassment, and the threat of murder.
Human Rights Watch found that, in most cases, the response by the authorities is inadequate if not nonexistent. In case of hate murders against homosexuals, courts apply the condition of "heavy provocation" and lower the sentences.

And let's not forget this: http://edition.cnn.com/2015/06/28/wo...lgbt-violence/
We might not agree with the Islamic religion, but we sure as hell don't go lynching every muslim on ATRL.

Why was this reported? Any (religious) superiority complex just makes me sick.
The islamophobia in this thread is uncalled for, though.

If you drink and practice pre marital sex you are not religious, to be religious is to abide the religion not just to identify with it.
Reading is fundamental.

You are hateful because I did not base my response off of this one comment but a serious of very directed comments you have made. Your tone was to make your cases look like the representation of the entire religion, don't act dumb.
I'm not hateful or paranoid, I just don't like people being ignorant and/or stupid.

Why does that have to do with religion? Muslim women can drive cars everywhere else in the world, I have seen it many times, it's just a stupid law in Saudi Arabia in fact most Muslims that I know are against it. It's nothing to do with religion.
People in this thread are generalising billions of people who are all different individuals with different ideas.
Close this thread people on here have no respect for freedom of religion.

The SJW need to stop. Islam may not be responsible for all the evil things done, but it definitely has not place in today's free society. It opposes human rights, and is an anti-social religion. From personal experience, these people are so weird. It's like you cant say anything without them not being offended. They also think the world revolves around them. The women who wear nijabs are the definition of anti-social. This religion has no place in our society. I am sorry.

You all are hating on Muslims without even a logical reason. How do you expect to get respect from other people? Islamophobic or Homophobic. Both are disgusting. I can't believe that I'm in the middle of both though

That's because Christianity is not associated with a minority group and thus does not face similar backlash. Christianity isn't "bashed" to this extent, either. Do not pretend the situations are similar.

You labeling Muslims as SJW, you forbidding it from having a place in today's free society is the OPPOSITE of what a free society is.
"'Those people" - It's probably because you're being insensitive but I guess gays can be offended but Muslims cant?
The women who wear niqabs have the same freedom that those that dont wear it do. It's NONE of your business what a woman CHOOSES to put on.
YOU are uneducated, I say this in the nicest way, before you even think of having an argument on anything political, religious or in general make sure you actually know what you're talking about because you sound pretty ignorant.

What is this? I think people are just reading the book and aggreeing on everything it says. I mean why pork? because its unhealty (i guess). No masturbation because they are supporting early marriage? I didnt get the church or the Jewelry though. Maybe if people will see the Jewelry it might cause hate on the person who has it? they might be envious?

Where did I say that? Isn't Janet currently living in Saudi Arabia? Clearly, the women there have far less rights than their western counterparts.

I have nothing against Muslims myself, one of my best friends is from Saudi Arabia, and she was the first person I came out to. She was super supportive and helped me accept myself.
But it is the barbaric ideology taught and enforced by the Islamic religion that I find problematic. Of course, not every Muslim is homophobic, but until a new prophet comes along and amends the Qur'an to advocate peace and tolerance, I cannot and will not respect the religion.
Inshallah.

She doesn't live in Saudi Arabia .....
Regardless of where she lives, she was a clear adult when she got married and if she's happy, what's it to YOU?

Okay but that has to do with their culture not religion. The Arabic people are using "Religion" a lot as a excuse but here in Turkey Woman are free and are able to do whatever they want. In some parts maybe not but most of turkey you see girls being free.
