It's interesting. We idolise these females when most have a foundation of males, most straight.
Has society set in place pre-determined opinions where select groups, often defined by gender and sexuality, feel trapped in freely enjoying music as a whole?
Who's to say that homophobic metal head that lives down the street wouldn't be "bopping" to Britney Spears if he had grown up in ignorance to society and what it dictates?
Are these males that produce our favourite's material, and often help (shade) write it, so comfotable with themselves that they can just produce whatever they want?
It's definitely not that simple, and a lot of variables (Incentives for example) could simply shoot down a few of my thoughts, but it is very interesting.
Personally I think it somewhat does imply sexuality, but only because society has molded it as so.
