Well, yeah, Britney and Justin too. There were many songs re-introducing synths and europop into the chart during the mid 00's, it started off with crunk songs, but also slowly turned to electropop:
Usher - Yeah!
Ciara - Goodies
Chris Brown - Run It!
Rihanna - SOS
Nelly Furtado - Maneater
Justin Timberlake - Sexy Back/My Love
Kanye West - Stronger
50 Cent - Ayo Technology
Akon - Smack That
Ne-Yo - Closer/Miss Independent
Rihanna - Don't Stop the Music/Disturbia
Chris Brown - Forever
Usher - Love In This Club
Britney Spears - Womanizer/Piece of Me/Gimme More
T.I. - Live Your Life
Katy Perry - Hot N Cold
Estelle - American Boy
Flo Rida - Low
All these, and many others, paved the way for Just Dance, Poker Face, Bad Romance, and the rest to be hits.

I need you banned for being the dumbest poster of the year.

Britney has hit iconic status, Beyoncé has hit iconic status, Gaga has hit iconic status, Rihanna will hit iconic status.
It never ceases to amaze me when artists say crap like this, especially young artists. It's as if they don't want their own generation of artists to succeed.

There's a trend for sure but some of those later songs were just around the time Just Dance was getting huge too. If anything Poker Face expanded more so on the Europop side of things down here and then came Ke$ha.

Icons usually have chart topperst. Ne-Yo is just saying if she's already losing her ability to get smash hits after three years in the industry, she probably won't be an "icon" and won't have staying power. It's not a big deal, and monsters need to sit down.
Gaga will always be a musician with a large fanbase, but c'mon, she stopped getting continuous #1 hits after Born This Way.

Getting #1 hit after #1 hit does not make someone an icon. It's also the ability to build a brand and be instantly recognizable. You think the icons of yester year always had #1 singles? Look at chart histories. Slave 4 U wasn't even seeing BB top ten, but it's an iconic piece of work.

But that's not what he's saying. He's saying that she wont be an icon because she's not relevant When in reality she's just taking a break. But it's evident that he's not too into her. Which is rather surprising.

And death at you all not reading. It says Stars LIKE Lady Gaga meaning Rihanna, Katy, and all the other current pop stars today who are making impact. He only mentioned Gaga because she is huge. In reality he's talking about all popstars of this generation.

Other than "Marry The Night," her last era's chart run was actually quite good. It wasn't that far off from TF or TFM's.

Exactly! Gaga's home chart is Pop. (radio) which obviously she took a hit with last era but Britney did as well. And she still basically owns the chart whenever she releases something. The people posting in this thread are using the bias that Ne-yo has said something against her. When in reality, this could be said about their faves too.

Where is she? she's on her sellout worldwide tour making more money than he'll ever make in his career. He sounds so ignorant, it's sad.

Lady Gaga probably wouldn't even be here if it wasn't for Ne-Yo, so he's entitled to his opinion.

Please STOP posting articles that are obviously fake (Daily Star = The Sun) for hit threads because you know nobody is going to read the full thing and realize he wasn't being offensive.

These stans coming in rows all of a sudden defending Ne-Yo when let this be any other thread about him and there would maybe be three replies calling him a **** and that's it.

Basically....
I don't know why y'all are so mad or maybe you just cannot take some criticism like that of your fav. Gaga is one of my favs, I think she is pretty iconic as far as pop culture goes, but musically? Does she have classic albums or loads of iconic moments, or very high critical acclaim?
Just wait a bit. It could go either way, her music can get better and she can become even bigger but the opposite might happen.
Lol at people taking this so seriously though.
