Miley Cyrus has never been smart. Read her interviews and you can practically HEAR her breathing through her mouth, but I've always liked her anyway because I thought she was a good, sweet person at the crux of it all. Emotions are non-rational. Of course it doesn't have to make sense. For example, if you call a prostitute a "*****" (begins with a "w") and you're using "*****" pejoratively, you can reasonably expect her to be insulted even though prostitutes are *****s.

Well of course if you word something rudely and with insulting terminology you will be insulted. But Sinead's letter did none of this. She approached the letter lovingly, complimentarily, giving advice about what it means to be a young woman in the music industry. There was no shade, no abrasive words, nothing that would be labelled "insulting."

If we want to use your example, Sinead did not call a prostitute a *****, she called her a sex-worker.

What was insulting about her statement?

Miley is going to fall hard after all this attention is over. She is doing too much in a short period of time and it's going to wear thin with the public. Miley literally has nothing to fall back on after this controversy ends as well. Literally, her entire career now is being built on controversy and after that's over, then what? She'll have lost all respect by the public by then.

But her stans should definitely keep on encouraging the type of **** she's doing because while many think it's going to lead to a Britney or a Madonna style career, Britney and Madonna were well respected artists still and didn't make jokes out of themselves (until Britney had her meltdown but the public knew she wasn't in the right frame of mind and forgave her - plus she was already a pop legend by then.)
