As much as I love Rihanna and the BBHMM video, let's not act like showing **** is exactly that controversial anymore. Like yeah people talk about it and it's NSFW but basically that's it. Go back a few years ago, Gaga did really risky things and Madonna a bit over a decade ago too, what they did still can be considered riskier considering the time of their release.

That's my whole point! People are saying she had a multi album deal in 2005 so she was safe . That's NOT true. Labels can buy out contracts if they feel the said artist won't help them make money. They had no reason to believe that after If It's Loving That You Want Rihanna would be even more successful with future releases.

But what I mean is if ANYONE can be dropped by the label, you can't really say Rihanna is risky because she risked being dropped because it's not unique enough to her. Any new artist would face the same thing. It doesn't mean you are risky, it means your career is at risk. And at the time she was not releasing anything near risky.
