Nope. Just posting what other people posted on other forums actually.

Hm. I always thought Oasis was a little bigger in the 90's...
Anyways, on to artist of the decade. as much as i think it's completely stupid to even HAVE an artist of the decade, i think there are several possibilities.
Usher - a definitely maybe. he had humongous success with Confessions (I own a copy), but I'm not entirely sure if he'll get it. Near the end of that album he got kind of sickening in a way. I'm not sure how well he can saturate (does that make sense? I'm trying .)
Mariah - possibility. she was HUGE with TEOM. And even after 3 relatively giant singles, I wasn't sick of hearing her voice (I also own a copy of this album). However, she's gonna have to pull some major domination soon if she wants it.
Britney - if she gets her act together maybe. she has sold tons and tons and tons of albums. she's had a large amount of songs this decade. but she needs another monster single to clinch the deal.
Hono. Mentions
Linkin Park - They have had three huge albums this decade: Hybrid Theory, Meteora, Minutes to Midnight. Hybrid Theory ALONE sold 24 mill. WW i believe.
Chrisitna Aguilera - Stripped was this decade, right? I think. But it's only 1 album, so i dont think she'll get it.
Beyonce - She might win it too, but she needs another good album with a song that can go #1 for umpteen weeks.
Kelly Clarkson - Oh Kelly. If only My December would have faired better. With Breakaway, she released 5 relatively monster singles, and I never got sick of her voice or songs. She saturates very well.

^exactly that's what i'm thinking. but her TEOM domination cant be ignored. if she can pull it off again she has a small shot.

Impact + Sales + Image
Female: Britney Spears(clearly the most talked about female in this decade ) & Avril Lavigne(She stayed relevant with her 3 albums, number #1, amazing sales, teenage icon, awards, and Worldwide attention like Britney etc.)
Christina Aguilera & Pink were meh, relevant, but not amazing
Beyonce a local star
Kelly Clarkson one album wonder
Mariah we can't name an artist "artist of the decade" with ONE hit album
Madonna, not to relevant, i mean confessions sold like crazy, but it's not the same as in '80 & '90
Shakira did Amazingly well for a latin star, but come on, Artist Of The Decade
Nelly Furtado (see Kelly Clarkson)
Male: Eminem(easily the most controversial male artist, sold like millions, made collabo with everyone, and a sucessful movie) & Justin Timberlake(gaining points lately)
Nobody gives a **** about Usher Worldwide, only U.S people bought his album, his only Worldwide Hit was Yeah!, and he's gone like forever
and Although you may not know, Robbie Williams was HUGE this decade outside U.S, i mean Worldwide was HUGE

Kelly Clarkson.
"Breakaway" is a staple in everyones album collection, sold more than any Beyonce or Usher album. The little TV SHow she debuted on is now a HUGE show. She's AMAZINGLY talented.
