This is bizzare on another level. This is corporate modern slavery. And The fact that she has to work with a man that has abused her on so many ways and crushed her soul is sick. :/
I can't at anyone still supporting Luke. This whole Kesha thing aside, the man is obviously shady.
We all know his music is unoriginal, all you have to do is search "Dr Luke Plagarism" and it'll all come up. Whoever he works with there's always trouble. Look at Avril, he co-produced The Best Damn Thing, and gave her her biggest hit to date - yet she never went back... RCA went for Max Martin instead for the follow up (Goodbye Lullaby). SO much drama came from her collaborating with him, from losing long-time friend/producer Butch Walker to the whole Girlfriend/I Wanna Be Your Boyfriend lawsuit. As much as a idiot Butch was for selling Avril out in his book, he said some pretty revealing things about Luke.
Open your eyes people, Avril is just one of many examples of the drama around thus guy.
My heart breaks everytime I see that pic... It's not fair, It's not fair to take away the voice that inspired you, that inspired people all over the world, her voice helped a lot of twinks trough the dark times, she was the one who can make you laugh when you watch her interviews, she is such a good person, and she really care about fans.... is that what she gets back? Karma will get that piece of ****..
I usually drag her but she's truly has a talent with music and doesn't deserve this.... She's going to come out stronger from this because I'll support her once she's freed from this corporate greed and from Katy's rapist pedophile friend..Dr luke.
It is not so black and white as "the law is the law" being a solid defense for those who don't see anything very wrong with this. Contract law is ultimately very negotiable if both sides can find a middle ground and there is a reasonable basis for terms being amended or rendered null and void. Sony's decision is baffling, simply just because I cannot imagine how they are going to financially benefit from keeping her on the hook. Beyond a legal standpoint, at this juncture it just plain looks awful on them as a company ethically.
Whatever the details are, clearly there is a huge underlying issue between Kesha and Luke that, at some point, took a very nasty and damaging turn and it's to the point that it is not reasonable to expect them to ever work together again creatively/professionally. This puts her contractually in a very difficult position and by retaining the terms that ultimately Luke and his label still have release power and approval over anything she records, it also puts her in a very compromised position where now she cannot even perform her professional obligations without likely being blocked by Luke (who can still decide not to ever release anything she records) or being placed in an even more emotionally and mentally harmful situation. At that point, where is your quality of life if your passion and livelihood has been stripped from you? Whatever the truth is, their relationship was clearly very toxic and at this point, it just doesn't behoove Luke/Kemosabe/Sony to keep her on the hook.
Her livelihood and craft are very much being held hostage here. It is just bad business to allow a ****** contract like this to remain in effect (esp when there is no real monetary gain from doing so) and it's a shame that the industry can turn a blind eye to mentally/emotionally distressing and professionally damaging factors that have surfaced over the years and refuse to take them into account when discussing the present state of a contract's validity. Is it in their right to keep her on the hook legally? Of course. Is it the right and even smart thing to do on their part in this situation? There are way more factors that point to "absolutely not" than anything else. It really just makes no sense at this point.
