Last year's charts were completly different to 2007 and 2008, where one week number 1's were very uncommon. I think the chart will stabilise this year and we will have more 2-5 week number 1's. UK sales tend to be more compact then in the US, becuase it is far easier to reach market saturation. For example, Cheryl Cole's FFTL debuted on sales af 293,000 approx. Those sales would be impressive in the US, but the US population is 5 times higher than he UK's. You don't see songs selling 1,465,000 downloads opening week in the US (that is the equivalent US figure 293kx5). So that explains why songs
sometimes drop off quickly, because sales tend to be more front loaded here.
