Adele is pretty much a legend already. What she's doing has never been done before. Not in terms of awards. And not in terms of sales. It's even more impressive than Thriller, tbh. That came out when people bought music. Let's not forget MJ failed to live up to Thriller and declined severely after that.

This isn't true. Sales weren't that high when Thriller came out- they were on par with about sales in 2008/2009 (I will try to find the list of sales in each year, it's on UKMix somewhere). There were just certain albums that did above and beyond everything else like Thriller or Purple Rain.
In terms of awards, Thriller won more (8 Grammys in a night - the all time record). Thriller garnered more successful singles, too- 7 Top 10s. ADELE will probably get 4 or 5, because let's face it, 21 isn't that good of an album, it's filler packed.
This is the biggest since Thriller, though. No other female album has done this, although The Bodyguard, Come On Over, and Jagged Little Pill all come close. And one monster album didn't make Alanis a legend. You need longevity.
