She tried to release a vulnerable, emotional song as a lead single, and it turned out to be DULL AF. *thud*
It's great she's going for something of a stripped down era, but she's stripped too much away, what's left is boring. Even her rap songs have all been that same deep-voiced monotone, consistent rhythm, zero spice. She NEEDS some flare if she's gonna take on 2+ genres.
The thing with this song is that it shouldve been released with more hype/promo (ala Applause=hype release/live debut @ award show ) she HAS to perform this at BET awards....however it might b too late by then unfortunately ::
The song and video are great.
The underperformance isn't really that big of a deal, she can bounce back.
I'm not sure but I still feel like it's the calm before the storm. I feel like this is one of those eras where the first single peaks relatively low but the second single smashes. Bookmark me?
