My newly updated single predictions (now that I've heard the album):
1. Roar (August 2013 - November 2013)
2. Unconditionally (November 2013 - February 2014)
3. Birthday (February 2014 - May 2014)
4. Dark Horse (May 2014 - September 2014)
5. This Is How We Do (September 2014 - December 2014)
6. Double Rainbow (December 2014 - March 2015)
7. Walking On Air/Legendary Lovers (March 2015 - June 2015)
8. Legendary Lovers/Walking On Air (June 2015 - September 2015) (maybe)
The 3rd single will probably be released sometime in late January/early February next year. I kinda wanted her to recreate the Teenage Dream era with singles, at least in terms of themes/simple coincidences/comparisons ("Unconditionally" was compared to "Teenage Dream", "Double Rainbow" was called a good sequel to "Firework", "Dark Horse" has a rapper like "E.T.", "This Is How We Do" is a party jam like "Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.)", ect).
So of course, I wanted “Double Rainbow” to be the 3rd single, and to smash over the spring. But now that I listened to it, I don’t think that should happen. i mean, it could smash still, but I'm not sure how it would do in the spring. I’m wondering if Katy will go the way Bruno did and release a funky throwback single like “Birthday” as the 3rd single. It would fit perfectly with the fun spring mood tbh.
I didn’t think of it at first, but “Dark Horse” could actually be a huge song of the summer, even though its theme doesn’t exactly scream it. It's sort of the same with “This Is How We Do”. It’s a summer themed song, but its production could fit with the cool fall feeling. “Ghost” ended up sounding like less of a hit than I thought it would, so instead of “Ghost” being the “The One That Got Away” (song about a lost lover), “Double Rainbow” could be it (both are about being wanting to keep a lover forever, except with different tones). It has somewhat of a slow wintery feel to it. Lastly, for the 7th/maybe 8th single, she could release “Walking On Air” and “Legendary Lovers” over spring and summer of 2015. If 8 singles is too much (which it shouldn't be for Katy), then it'll be one or the other. I can't decide though.
