The same album that you claimed that not "special" is the same album that sold nearly 1.1 million copies in the United States in its first week of release. It became the highest-ever first week sales by an R&B artist, the second-highest first week sales for a male artist, and the seventh-highest first week sales of the recorded album charts history by SoundScan.
The same "nothing special" album you called is the second selling album in the decade that sold 10 million in the U.S. and 20 million WW.

Did you just bring up sales figures to defend QUALITY?
Dangerously In Love is a strong R&B album with good vocal performances and great story-telling. But it's just not experimental like B'Day and 4. DIL is basically Funk-inspired R&B the whole way through sans Baby Boy, Yes, Hip Hop Star, That's How You Like It and Daddy. It isn't TOO different from anything else out in 2003. Plus, it's obvious that the person who made it was making music by and for themselves for the very first time. That's How You Like It is also her worst song ever in my opinion. 3rd best.
Confessions is regular. The instrumentals are very boring. Just very generic 2004 R&B. I only use the lyricism from the personal, relationship-gone-wrong songs which don't even comprise the majority of the album. It's mostly just overly sexual smut. Looking 4 Myself experiments with electronica and marries it with R&B. The lyricism is generally great. The vocal performances are ON POINT. Climax is his best song. Dive, Lessons for the Lover, Twisted and Scream are all incredible.
