This is very true.
It doesn't help that every one is in party chat either and there's only so much shooting at someone and doing emotes and "Hello", "Hello", "Hello", to try and get someones attention in game, you can do.

um yeah it can be the player that is the problem, but seeing as Overwatch is a team game. Regardless of how great a single player is a bad team can drag them down. Honestly, it can be a bunch of different issues. The one I've seen the most in my games was the team not working and pushing together. Like everyone having individual fights when team fights will lead to better success.

I definitely agree with this but hypothetically speaking, a person with the same skill as you will have the same statistical chance to end up with afks, trolls, etc.
In order to climb, you need to be able to carry your team more often than not, resulting in a 50+ win rate.
It's annoying as **** but I honestly think the only way to go is try to improve in your own game as much as possible, as it's the only factor you can really influence directly

This. So. Bloody. Much!
I even had a go at my brother last night because this is what he was doing, yet he was complaining at us for not being there... We weren't there with him because we died and then he thought: "Lemme go in on my own, die and then blame every one else"
I always stick with people and usually flank the other team with another player.

I stopped playing competitive for this season. I have way more fun during Quick Play/No limits and when I want a challenge I do 3v3.
The ONLY time i've had FUN during competitive is when 3+ players have mics on and the team actually communicates but thats such a RARE thing in the lower ranks (i'm in silver). I'm just gonna wait till Season 4 and pray I get into Gold at least cause it ain't happening this season for me.

You guys are always losing at competitive because you have a bad attitude towards it.
It's seriously not that hard to go from Silver to Platinum once you stop being so angry at your team/the game & just enjoy it instead (I speak from experience)
It doesn't matter if you have gold elims or dmg or objective time, or whatever, the objective of the game is to win as a team, not to get more elims than the other 5 people.
If you didn't win, then you did something wrong.
The only legitimate excuse is if you have a leaver or a premade with many bad ppl.
Also, ppl complaining about Hanzo & Genji (I don't play them myself, but...), you are the problem wth your team, not the Hanzo/Genji main.
The amount of ppl who are like "OMG a Hanzo, CHANGE YOU TROLL" before the game's even started, you are the problem.
Let ppl do what they want to, but before the match starts, make a polite point to say "if it doesn't work out, then let's change our comp".
Then if it doesn't go well, make a point to say "Hanzo/Genji it would be useful if u could heal", but at least give ppl a chance first.
It's not impossible to win a platinum game with 1 healer or 1 tank or with 3 DPS, so meta defo doesn't matter at silver.
If you don't give ppl a chance and instead put them down, then you're not going to win - you're just tilting your team & yourself.
Also, the ppl who say things like "**** team, i have x amount of gold medals, what r u even doing???", you're never going to prosper.

Yes it's funny I finally decided ok this is my last attempt at 4 and then that round I got it. It was so frustrating cause I almost did it a few times then people left and cancelled the game
I had the other three already tho so now I'm free

Lol, no.
I think you have something on the attitude towards the game mode though, that could low-key be correct - so I give you that.
And the Hanzo/Genji thing aint related to me since I don't really have a problem, although it is annoying when someone is awful with them
I mentioned the medals because they are an indication of who is playing well, there would be no other use for them, so for you to disregard them is quite naive of you.
----
Just had a game on competitive and this team slayed. We had structure, people stayed in pairs of two/three and we actually pushed together. Now we've stuck together for the next game, lets see how this goes but that's what I like to see. A TEAM.

I mean, it's not specifically aimed at you.
Just a general response to the different opinions I've seen in this thread.
And cool, a gold medal is nice, but it doesn't mean anything if you only need 12 seconds of objective time or 5 eliminations to get it.
People have this logic of "i have gold dmg, I'm not changing hero", which is just unhelpful to the team as a whole.
They look at how many medals they have to justify them not catering to what the team needs, then act surprised & blame others when they lose.

they need a new system of calculating your success cause the current one does not encourage or reward hero swapping at all

Lol, well clearly it's going to take longer than 12 seconds to get a Gold medal, but I love the sarcasm.
However, I do agree with you about the bit where some people may not change hero due to them having a Gold medal in a certain category. But, I'm not one of those, I change characters when needs be, just now I had to switch from Zarya to Reaper as we had no attackers - We ended up winning - not saying due to me, but due to the fact we had a balanced team.
I've made many points already as to why I get annoyed at other players, it's not every match and it's not every one. It's those few who maybe are experimenting with a new character, or have that lone wolf mindset, those are the ones I have a problem with. They ruin it for the rest of us and like I mentioned before, it's a domino effect.

What BlazingLovatic said is true. Open your mic in competitive and talk. Even if you're the only one talking that's enough to make a difference. I solo queue in competitive and in my rank games (Master-Goldmaster) almost everyone has a good attitude no matter what. Yes, people tell other people to "switch off hanzo" but if the player doesn't we don't get salty about it. I've also had many throwers in my games, but my team ignores that and tries to work around the thrower, because we know it's the only thing they can do about it without getting toxic and mad at the player. There are a few subtle ways to tell someone to switch without sounding round, for example if I was playing healer and I notice our McCree is not doing well, I say "I feel like we should switch our dmg dealers because we're not doing enough damage." I also always give credits to people who are doing good like "Good job Zenyatta." These simple things change the atmosphere of the game and it makes it fun and we'd have more chances of winning.

if you ever play with a group of 4 or more try the mystery heroes. Its horrible to play alone but really fun in a group and if you lose then just blame it on the game

I mean its nice in theory but I've never had a nice interaction with a Hanzo/Genji player. Sorry not sorry but most of the times I've tried politely interacting with them they either think the entire team needs to carry them or revolve around making it so they get kills (Genji) or are stubborn and don't want to switch (Hanzo).
Sometimes its just the truth girl!
