According to the latest Official Charts Company sales data, Adele’s 21 has now outsold Michael Jackson’s Thriller and, in doing so, has become the UK’s fifth biggest selling album of all-time.

As of this morning, the London-born singer’s 2011 second album has now sold 4,274,300 copies in the UK, 500 more than Thriller. And with 21 selling an average of 20,000 copies per week over the last four weeks, that lead will significantly increase when this week's final Official Albums Chart sales data is published on Sunday.

The UK’s Top 10 biggest selling albums of all-time are now as follows:

It must be sad being an MJ stan, only having the 2nd bestselling solo album of all time in the UK and only spending a measly 45 weeks at No 1 in the US/UK with that album.

In all seriousness though this is a great achievement for Adele, a mere 15 months after release "21" continues to outsell legendary all-time classics that have been out for decades. Passing Thriller and going into the all-time top 5 takes it to another level again.

Adele's '21' leads with a huge distance and 5,97 million sales, following by Lana Del Rey's 'Born To Die' (1,42 million), Coldplay's 'Mylo Xyloto' (1,31 million), One Direction's 'Up All Night' (1,21 million) and Madonna's 'Mdna' (1,15 million).

By my calculations Adele's 19 is also close to 1 million in 2012 sales and should blast through this barrier in its 81st week on the charts.

Tracy Chapman, Tapestry and the '80s Whitney and Madonna albums are on the list, so this isn't Soundscan.

These are worldwide sales. 21 has already surpassed Daydream in Soundscan sales.
