I went to Inglewood! I needed an old out of print book for my boss and the only place I could find a copy was the Inglewood Public Library. The black people there were very hospitable. I was about to park at a meter and this black guy who was leaving said he had 40 minutes left on his meter and I should take his spot. Then I waited for the library to open (they open at 11am) and there was a black woman with three little boys was also waiting. One of the little boys was playing close to me so the lady made him apologize for invading my private space and explained that it's the only way they'll learn. I think she was trying to show me that they don't fit those negative stereotypes!
On my way out I blasted my Urban station to show that I enjoy their music (and I really do!) and these black boys looked over. That B.o.B. whistle song was playing...and then they played DWUW (no joke) which killed my attempt to impress them with my cool music taste.
All in all an interesting experience!
But the fact that "crime rate" comes up when you google "Inglewood."
