So Kavish is correct when he posted earlier about a squat machine and a Smith machine being different things. But searches for "squat rack" indicate that it seems to be basically the same thing as a Smith machine. Most convincing is the fact that one top Google Image autocomplete search is "squat rack/smith machine." Wikipedia tells us that "the [Smith machine] is a piece of equipment used in weight training... [it] can be used for a wide variety of exercises such as a squat..." and an Amazon product listing states that a squat rack is "designed to hold [a] weight bar safely..."
