There was clearly some thought into it. A high budget video would just have a bunch of crap in the way. This was up close and personal. The Utada fans love it and that's all that matters

Exactly. No only was it easy for her to make the video like that but also the fact she could simply use the low budget video as an excuse to say its a gift for the fans.
