I think she def doesnt need a ballad as a single. Run was a proof. She was all "I'm releasing a ballad in the US cause people never saw this other side of me" but the point is people dont wanna see that side. thats the truth. Run was strong enough. If it was a Adele single, it'd have been #1 for ages....

She has the songs to make it, she simply doesnt have the smartest PR.

AmenJena is not a commercial ballad, same for Run. Fans appricate those songs, but I don't see her having succes with it. The only ballads she would do well with probably would be something like Happily Never After or Power's Out and then released around Christmas. With a good promo campagne. Demi Lovato released a similair ballad to Run called Stone Cold and that also underperformed everywhere.

I mean she could have recorded 25 and people would not embrace it. Her biggest hit in countries DHYB is the closest thing to a ballad that would catch on. But that also didn't caught on in the US.

In all honesty, she should give up any chance to chart in the US at this point. Next year it will be 10 years after the first time she tried to conquer the US with WUL and BL and during those 10 years her albums have been scrapped, Only Right There did okay and even after that still no album.
- HNIN --> Shelved even though BL was a hit globally, but nothing caught on in the US.
- KL --> Right There did okay, but DHYB flopped, yet her label never released the album in the US and the international campagne and the (US) release of Prety got scrapped
- BFL --> Tried to make Run a hit with a few performances, that obviously didn't happen and the campagne got scrapped with no US release for the album

If it didn't happen then, I don't see it happening now. She should just release her music everywhere, whether it flops/underperform. All her albums could have been released.

You know if Rihanna released Run, she would just grab all the Grammys for the year. There's this double standard where someone like Rihanna can release a repetitive song of her moaning about work and somehow everyone jumps on the gravy train to Barbados. Like even my mother hates that song.

When Nicole released Run with her perfect vocals, it flopped. If Nicole released a song about of her moaning about work, everyone will call Nicole trashy and stupid.

Double standards. Nicole basically has to be goddess-level (flawless perfection, Nicole has to cure cancer to get people to like her) to get any kind of achievement at this point, she should just sign a contract with the devil honestly.

I agree that there are double standards, but I don't even think Rihanna would have gained much with Run. Her current single Sledgehammer and her last one Kiss It Better also aren't setting charts on fire and I don't see those songs grabbing loads of awards either..I get what you mean though.

It's just a combination of sad events and recordlabels/teams that had no idea how to market her talents. I mean she has had problems with Bulimia for years and performances like the Baby Love AMA performance, a lot of WIGU performances have build a picture of Nicole along with the PCD stigma that she is a talentless singer and just a sex siren.

She has done some amazing things like the Phantom performance and done amazing collabo's like the ones she did with David Garrett and Andrea, but the crowd she is releasing for is not interested in those songs and platforms. Her performance with Sam Bailey helped a bit, but then she got bashed for stealing the limelight. But then she releases a song like Right There where she sounded pretty awful in most of the performances and even YL really doesn't showcases her vocals, since the verses are pretty hard to sing.

Pretty seems to be the only song so far which was middle of the road enough to still be able to release some kind of ballad. Yet she didn't release it.

At this point it is too late to get people think otherwise (in the US especially). People are too headstrong and ignorant and hold on to some kind of bossy image of her PCD days when she was suffering from bulimia and basically had a damaged voice and I doubt she will ever be able to keep that stigma completely behind.

I think so, not sure. Nicole is taking it casual, as far as I'm concerned. I hope Nicole gets the man she deserves, she's so kind and beautiful. Lewis really hurt her, in my opinion.

I agree
Ofcourse we never can judge fully about Lewis and he must have made her happy. But they were breaking up or taking a breaks from each other basically every year. One of those situations where they are basically a cure but also a poison to eachother. They should have ended it far sooner. I mean one of her wishes outside of her career is to have children and the time she spend with Lewis really will make this wish hard for her, since her biological clock is also ticking and Nicole is traditional, so she probably wants to get married before such big descision and since she basically has to start off scratch with every man atm, it must be probably hard for her.
