Why was Rem permabanned?

Rem was permabanned before for getting to 20 points, but he was admitted back after begging the moderators for a second chance. He got his second chance and he blew it.

Robbie got a 6-month ban for letting Knix, a permabanned member, use his account.

But how is it possible to get 20 points? This always concerned me. Were all his points for more months and when he came back after simple 10 points ban did he still have more than 10 points and then got another 10? Or what?

It's possible to have points when you come back from banland because some points stick longer than others. So with the points you had left, plus new points accumulated, bingo...permaban.
