Nicole, here's some advice for the next one, you need to run and find people you will give you good material.

From an "art" point of view it is no excuse. But from a business point of view it is, how sad as it sounds. I mean I'm a Cheat was also produced by The Dream and I wouldn't call that production bad or cheap, and that song was financed by Interscope.
But oddly enough I feel the flawed production actually fits with the phases of her life she talks about in certain songs

Nicole chose to record the whole album and even favored OTR as single choice from the beginning I mean in the end it is her own choice. How bad as that choice was.

I dont agree with you all about Big Fat Lie. For me it's a personal album, really cohesive and the production its smooth, not cheap. I like it. And like Jesper said, she HAD to make it. Even tho she didnt write it all, you can relate every track to a moment of her life.
I just think Your Love doesnt fit the album and people were expecting a completely different thing, almost a K.L. 2.0 more summer-ish.
Your Love gave people a wrong perspective of the album.

I agree with you on that.
I personally don't think all songs have cheap production, but sometimes a bit questionable to the point that I sometimes wondered whether it was sloppy or meant that way, but when thinking about it, I came to the conclusion like I also said in my reply before this that maybe some things that could be seen as flawed or "cheap" are actualy intential. I mean the album is personal and mainly about heartbreak and accepting your imperfections and it fits as a whole.
Though what I meant is that had Interscope or Sony invested in the sessions, she probably would have made a far more commercial album with more commercial and in-your-face productions like an Umbrella or Single Ladies rather than what BFL ended up to be.
idk I sometimes have a love or hate relationship with the album there is something that I can't put my finger on that I love but that also bothers me.

The only songs I listen from BFL are Your Love, Run, Bang and God of War. Run wasn't even produced by The Dream and Tricky Stewart, and it is without a doubt the best song on the album.
With Killer Love, I listened to the entire album on repeat for like a year, I love all the songs on it. Poison, Right There, Don't Hold Your Breath, Try With Me, Wet, Say Yes, You Will Be Loved, Power's Out, Tomorrow Never Dies, Trust Me I Lie, etc. The whole album is flawless.
I get that BFL was a personal album for Nicole but I really just don't like it, the whole thing is a mess, from the covers to the songs. I mean, BFL is cohesive, but it's just so blah. It would've been better if Nicole worked with different producers then had all of them mastered by the Dream and Tricky Stewart.

Nicole socialising with both Calvin Harris and now Diplo, she better be networking for features for their albums, and maybe lowkey her own album. It's time to come back full force. Good features, good solo music, the complete slayage

I'm not sure. I know she started working on it but we all know these first sessions are always scrapped from the final project. But she only did a few sessions (that we know so far)...
And I really dont see Nicole picking old songs to make a new album, since she's always saying her old songs 'had a family' (which makes sense) and not actually represent who she is anymore, blah blah blah.
She has to focus on a concept and build the whole album around it. Her last one ("big fat lie is about the woman that I am, the woman that I'm not and the woman that I wanna be") didnt work for me.

Syco's VP suggested on twitter that Nicole and MNEK should work together.
It seems cristal clear about her new label now
But Ollie's snaps got me so excited about Capitol

If she would be networking with Diplo and likes to work with MNEK and would end up working with Calvin than she could be heading towards a commercial album. The only problem she might have is that she and her label need to release such album asap and could de.f plug it through the XFactor. These club kind of tracks don't have a huge lifespan, so she can't hold on to songs for too long.
On one thing it is exciting that things have been so quiet about a label and recordings etc. on the other hand it is scary. Capitol and Syco are both complete different labels, so both would be interesting, but we have more signs about Syco currently.

I had a BFL rewind yesterday and I lost my 'hate' in the love/hate relationship I had with the album.
I must say I have to take certain things back, there is nothing wrong with the production, beside maybe OTR which didn't needed the damn autotune. Heartbreaker must be one of her career highlights for sure. The way she sings so emotional and smooth at the same time, the instrumental and that guitar are divine.

Today was Syco Summer Party and lots of Syco artists attended -Ella, Fleur, Louisa, Reggie n Bollie, even Cheryl was there - but Nicole was in Ibiza (with Alesha Dixon <3).
Can her just announce her new label already? We dont want Simon to do it again for her

I hope she doesn't pay dust to her ballads this time. AmenJena is one of the most beautiful songs I've ever heard, but she didn't even release it. At least Try with Me has a ballad-like intro. She needs to show the world she's an amazing singer and not just another performer (albeit one of the best out there). She's got a singing voice you don't her too often. Run was not strong enough to show her vocal capabilities. She needs a massive power ballad and lots of promo everywhere. That could be her chance to chart in the US.
