I've been watching tons of movies lately for this Halloween challenge thing. So forgive me for posting my thoughts on a bunch of random movies. I've been doing a lot of rewatching as well. The past couple nights, I watched Secret Window, The Cabin in the Woods, and the Carrie remake.
Secret Window still holds up so well. It's definitely one of my favorites of all time. I know it's a bit more of a psychological thriller than a horror but it manages to mix everything together so well. And even though I don't like supporting Johnny Depp anymore, he does a great job in it. I remember I saw it in theaters in 5th grade and had no idea what the **** was going on. I had to have someone explain it to me when we left. I read the novella a few years after that and I love that too. Anyone else read it? It has a different, interesting take on the ending.
The Cabin in the Woods is amazing and I'll love it until the day I die. I don't understand why people don't like it.
The Carrie remake isn't great, but I don't think it's horrible either. I honestly bought it a few years back for the lenticular slip cover. Overall, I think the cast did a pretty good job but I wish it was a more faithful adaptation of the book and less of the original movie. Because the original movie didn't really need to be remade, in my opinion. And it was inevitable everyone would hate this one when compared to that.
I so wanna watch a lot of horror movies before Halloween but my laptop is broken
Only option is DVD but my theme for this year is supposed to be Hitchcock + King but their movies are so hard to find physically
I watched The Loved Ones and Mum & Dad last night.
I had seen The Loved Ones before and really enjoyed it. It still held up for me. Xavier Samuel did a really good job, even with very minimal lines to deliver.
When I was on the IMDb boards for The Loved Ones, I saw someone mentioned a movie called "Mum & Dad." I hadn't heard about it prior but decided to give it a go. Has anyone else seen it? Pretty ****ed up stuff. Overall, I enjoyed it. Though saying you "enjoy" a movie like that seems a little strange.

Omg, I watched Mum and Dad AGES ago... like it must've been not long after it was released. I was trying to remember what it was called after I watched The Loved Ones a few months ago. I have no recollection of what happened but I'm glad to finally put a name to it
I watched Mum & Dad like 6 years ago for the first time and now I end up watching it once a year. It's one of my favorite horror movies ever but yeah, it is so graphic.

Like you said the movie is a pleasant surprise. A lot of people haven't heard about it and its very hard to find it online but its definitely worth watching it if your horror taste expands more than just supernatural and slasher films.
