Why do Christians get so bent out of shape during christmas. Jesus was not even born in winter. Isn't his real birthday sometime in April or something? The association between Xmas, New year and Christianity is minimal

I remember when I officially became identifiying as an atheist in late 2012, when there was popular thing in the US called "War on Xmas" where atheists organisations had billboards around different parts of America making chistians all hot and bothered
It's been years since I've read the Quran so I can't be sure. Lucas, have you encountered the soras about recycling yet?
I've seen her before. She has to be the smuggest and vilest Islam apologists on Youtube.
"My producer says Islam needs PR" at least she is honest about what she is doing there. Damage control in the form of spreading lies. "Muhammed a woman's rights champion" does she have no shame?
I'm roughly halfway through and I haven't encountered anything about recycling or anything the sort. I wonder how I could, when the people who lived at the time the Quran was written, had no idea about those things . If there are such verses and she isn't simply lying through her teeth again then I am sure they are vague and require deliberate interpretation.

Yes. Christmas doesn't have a religous meaning in my family and in most families in Germany I think.
It's just about family, friends and consumerism.
My parents,my siblings and I used to go to church on the 24th but we haven't done that in years now. I think even back then it had more to do with tradition than deep-rooted belief.

Same here. Except we never been to church.
Although I love churches, every time I go to a new place I make sure to check out its church cause they're all SO stunning outside and inside

The architecture of religious buildings is incredible.
The ones that were builts in the middle ages and around that time period are stunning especially the huge ones.
The fact that they did all of that without modern technology is crazy to think about.
Sacre-Coeur was the most beautiful one I've seen in person from the inside.

It's interesting what the guy was saying about religions manifesting in different cultural expressions. I know we **** on Islam all the time, but the cultural lens is so important.
His point that like only 10% of Muslim women wear head covers is quite eye-opening. I can't speak to its veracity, but being African and growing up around so many Ethiopians and Somalis, its kind of true so many women do practice Islam w/o the traditional slant. Like there are Christians who don't discriminate against gays and in fact, welcome them.
Hey y'all. I was watching some of the videos on religious debates and a very good question was asked. Can you be gay and a Muslim? There was a gay muslim there asking this question, he wanted to know when the muslim community would accept him and some muslims argued that, being gay is not a choice but being a muslim is and therefore he shouldn't be a muslim cuz Islam condemns homosexuality. What do y'all think?

Ofc, I firmly believe that like many religious people there are moderates in muslim communities and they in fact outnumber the extremists. Maybe there are more extremists muslims than there are extreme christians but that has to do with social order. If people of Westboro baptist church held power in america, it probably wouldn't be much different from todays middle east.

I know right

Well of course you can be. But I wonder why anyone would want to join a religion whose religious doctrine includes killing you and join a community in which a large portion still considers you to be less than.

I saw it from the outside but I didn't go inside. I visited Paris over 4 years ago but f I recall correctly there was a meeting of important reprsentatives from the church in Notre Dame so there was no public access. It looks amazing from the outside though.

I've been pondering the same thing about LGBT christians myself.
I celebrate Xmas for it's original, non-religious way of celebration.
my family however always bothered me by dragging me to church, which I hate with my guts, but finally last year they stopped bothering me with that travesty.
I am watching this Bill Nye vs Ken Ham debate and oh my god. The fact that scientists can be creationists is TERRIFYING. I am honestly shook
Have you never seen it before? It's such an atheist online classic .
Listening to Ken Ham is one of the best ways to make yourself feel like Einstein.
The best part about the debate is when Ken is asked what would change his mind and he downright admits that he would never change his mind no matter what evidence is presented to him
Bill Nye really had the patience of a monk in that debate.

I haven't but oh my god. I've reached the rebuttal round and Ken Hams answers for Bill are all "But the bible says". What was the point of him even being there, they could have put any priest there that would have said the same things and would possibly be a better orator I'd honestly be pissing myself from laughter if I were Bill
