I think the way it went was: everybody has like 6 skin color traits/genes/whatever (3 from either parent) and there are like 64 different possible combinations that can from any 3 of either parent's 6 traits. How dark you are depends on how many are dominant, I think.

This is so funny because we have this family friend.
Anyway, the child's parents are both tan but the baby came out this weird white. They're Trini & Indian. It's not like a white people, white either. Anyway, the mother's family is the same white, but turns out, the mother had an affair and that's why the baby is the color it is
