So far they have done pretty well at hyping the single, but it's true that the promotion after the single is released will be the most important.
Billboard music award is going to take place soon, that may be a good chance for Avril to perform the song in front of American viewers, since i feel like that market kinda forgot about her.

I am not here for these banners to be the only kind of "promo" they will pull.
They better do it right, because they know there is no one as powerful in their roster as Avril (sans Sade & Shakira)

They mishandled WTH (and the whole era), they gave her some minor promotion slots, with the biggest being Dirk Clark New year event, the timing was horrible. The facebook campaign is also a mess.

Yup I'm not here for "let's release it and wait to see if it's magically doing well..." HW did it for Demi's Heart Attack. Luckily the song did great without any promo but that was just luck!

And I don't think that what they did so far really hyped us...

Actually all pre-WTH promo was kinda good...The New York performance was a REALLY good promo. I remember we even got the album press release and release date, before the song dropped.
But the Facebook fiasco started the whole mess. iTunes - 2 weeks after they give it for free and the day Britney debuts a new single?

You call What The Hell promotion minor?
She basically toured the world, went to perform on a lot of shows and stuff. If they had continued with the same promotion for the rest of the record it wouldn't be a mess era

Yes, that's minor in my opinion, and absolutely nothing compared to the promotion that Girlfriend had. And RCA is well known for only giving promotion to the first single and ignore the rest of the era.
