But the PS3 didn't have all these complex concepts that the Xbox One has. The only backlash to the PS3 was the price, while the backlash to the Xbox One is basically everything about it.

Not sure about this to be honest. PS$ has ALL tempting marketing strategies that will sweep you over, even those hardcore Xbox stans but in the long run I think Xbox will have the winning position eventually. It won't be long 'til Sony starts incorporating the same rules Xbox have.

It's not that. This is a total different situation than the PS3 back then.

Microsoft seem to miss the point that the ONLY thing that costumers care about from the console is GAMING! Not that multimedia ****. If a costumer can't play a game comfortably, they surely won't buy the console. Simple as that. And for some reason, Xbox 1 tries so hard to be the most uncomfortable console ever, while the PS4 is providing comfort yet advanced gaming with cheaper price. So you do the math.

If you look closely at Sony's campaign for PS4, it will all boil down to the same ground on which Microsoft is resting. They just have a good way of make it sound positively in a similar way of sounding negatively on Microsoft. Take the no used games restrictions - yes for Sony-developed games, but policies on most 3rd party games will be reliant on game publishers which will of course be restricted in the end.

Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong though.

I don't think Microsoft missed the point. That's what they're aiming for initially.

If you mean going online every 24 hours, no used games, a potential spycam, the possibility of reaching bandwidth limitations and having a company still owning your console and what you do etc.

It all comes down to the Developers really,
Xbox is faced with two huge problems(as evident by the net lashings), they have eliminated the ability to buy and trade used games. To me this isn't a huge problem, I have stopped trading and selling my games. For others this is a huge problem and I guess I could understand them.
The other problem is always connected, though this a bigger problem than the first I mentioned I hope it lends itself to some really neat gaming experience.

Developers are the only ones with the power to sway a console war,
If developers chime in on this and decide to put all the exclusive titles on the Xbox One, it may sway the consumers into buying an Xbox ONE. Why would the developers chose the Xbox ONE over PS4? Because they lose money(potential) when someone decides to trade in or buy used games, you might not think these things are too big of a deal to care about but they are.



Smaller game company's struggle with todays market. Its only the big companys that manage to stay afloat.
