People are always saying she has the worst videos because she doesn't necessarily pour so much money into each one, as others do. Then again, none of the others create quite as many as she does per album, and she does love herself some simplicity, which I feel is perfect for her because her performance style is anything but simple.
I think that she's really developed a style of video all her own which she will be remembered for in the future. Her videos are almost always performance videos, with a preference for simplicity and some affect that makes the video really pop (The continuity and lighting changes in Single Ladies, the outfit changes in Love on Top and Freakum Dress, etc.). [What really bothered me during the IASF era is when everyone kept saying, "Ego! It's just the same thing as Single Ladies" and so on about all the uptempo videos, not realizing that she is creating a theme and universe for Sasha Fierce. People seem to expect every instant to be a change of character and hair colour and cut these days].
That being said it would be nice to have some variations once in a while, but we all saw how the fans reacted when she did that with Deja Vu. But I have faith in her completely. She loves to do something, and then perfect it, do it as best she can, and then move on. She knows what she's doing better than any of us ever will.

Her only bad videos are; Suga Mama, Freakum Dress, Upgrade U, Sweet Dreams and Video phone. They deserved better IMO.
Sweet Dreams def deserved better.. She should of used the Sweet Dreams interlude video from the I Am Tour and developed it into a full length vid.. Innovative and Fresh! I think it would of performed better too..

For sure! That whole setup was brilliant and the song has really interesting lyrics that weren't played up as well in the video.
Even in the video, it was really good until they stopped using the CGI backgrounds, and just used white backgrounds. I thought that the moody, neutral background in the beginning was really interesting and gave some variation on the overdone plain background style of the era (I know I just defended that in my comment above but she could have maintained the style while giving it variation). It seems a bit like the video is unfinished. At the least they could have ended with a CGI background so it felt like a finale. I also really despise the use of black and white with a one coloured accent, and it's used here, and makes it seem a bit cheap. I didn't like the changing from black-and-white to colour and vice versa either.
I agree with what you guys are saying, but Suga Mama could have been so awesome. I liked the stripper pole intro and the choreography was great, but I needed it to be filmed on location, just like WDYLM
Freakum Dress had a good concept, but again, she should have filmed it on location. In a big mansion or maybe on a real runway.
