But before you go, there's one more award to hand out. Please welcome the inaugural recipient of the ATRL Grammys Lifetime Achievement Award, the legendary Miss Britney Spears!

It all began in the fall of 2008. I was in the midst of mounting one of the most anticipated comebacks in music history, a man named Lady Gaga was busy redefining the pop game, and our honoree tonight dropped a little video called “Single Ladies.”

It was an immediate cultural sensation—but more importantly, it helped change the face of ATRL. Suddenly, we were the Trinity, locked in a titanic and all-consuming battle for the forum’s affections. Allegiances formed, opinions hardened, and fans of lesser artists went running for the hills. It was the dawn of ATRL’s pop girl era, replete with the stan wars that would come to define the site.

The rest, as they say, is history, culminating with her six wins tonight. She’s got one more coming her way, in recognition of her significant contributions to the forum. But who better to do the honors than the woman herself?

Here to close out the show, give it up for Beyoncé, this year’s recipient of the ATRL Grammys Lifetime Achievement Award!
