Born This Way has nothing to do with Gaga's decline, but the truth is that she wasn't meant to be huge her whole career. She was bound to have an underperformance and here we have it, and ARTPOP isn't the album the GP wants. All in all, people loved Born This Way and that's why it sold 7 million copies on a WW scale, and you can say it was riding off of TFM's success which is kind of true but then again, what is Beyoncé's successful era holding on to now? 4 wasn't successful at all. And by that logic ARTPOP would be riding off of Born This Way's success.

No, she wasn't. Not by the GP at least. People, until the Alejandro video was released, had no idea nor did they care about her being gay friendly or even planning to release the gay anthem that BTW, the song, became.
I've seen middle aged males with their kids, girlfriends or whatever bopping to Poker Face, Bad Romance and Telephone. I've seen the same males turning off the radio when BTW was on. This is what the album did to her and it stayed that way. ARTPOP is a move into a right direction, though.
The logic you mentioned is flawed. Born This Way was front loaded but we've all seen what happened when the gp heard the actual content of the album. Born This Way wasn't the album the gp wanted, but they've got it.

The GP thinks (I believe) that liking Gaga = being gay. Being a LM = being gay.
Unfortunately GUY will have a huge hill to climb up if it's going to be a hit.

What music video is gayer than Alejandro?

While we're at talking about gays, when I was at the Born This Way Ball @ Stade De France (her biggest show ever I believe ) there were gays, but also straights people/couples , families, etc.
They may think her music is gay, but she's still known as a good performer no matter what and I think people would still pay to see her live anyway , trust me on that.

I was so afraid the music video for G.U.Y. was going to be her as Jo Calderone bottoming for Taylor Kinney.
The Alejandro of 2014.

No, I cannot agree. Alejandro started it all and BTW continued. Not ever before BTW I've heard a single person saying Gaga's music is for gays or only gays like Lady Gaga, which was the case during the album promo and after it. This is only my opinion, though.

Whether you like it or not the GP is nearly all straight people and a lot of prejudice and judgement falls with associating your favorite music with a gay pop star. (even tho Gaga herself is straight... )

This is such an ignorant comment. BTW is entirely gay. From the Black Jesus Amen Fashion theme (fashion and religion mixed in haute couture styles...OBVIOUSLY gay and the GP saw it), to the sound/lyrics of the lead single, Hair (the promo single), songs like Bloody Mary and Electric Chapel all harken back to the imagery of uber-gay Alejandro. The Queen is the gayest thing on Earth as well
The denial is a transparent attempt to say Gaga is declining because people just hate her but it's more than that. She's got a reputation as a GAY popstar in America. The backlash all started with BTW and has been caused by BTW. The Alejandro video could've been forgotten but instead Gaga continued on with that imagery for an entire era.
ARTPOP and GUY are a return to form for Gaga...but that might not be enough in post-21 era music.

I have to respect BTW as an album. The album carries a concept and the tracks actually have a purpose. To be honest, it is more relatable than ARTPOP. The era was a mess, for sure.
ARTPOP has some catchy songs that I can listen to on repeat! The concept is not supported by the album and not every track has a purpose. In fact I think two or three tracks contribute to the overall theme of the album On top of that, the era was a mess last year.
I'm enjoying the GUY era a bit The video > everything else

Too bad the gothic imagery of BTW got such negative feedback, I really liked it aside from stuff like TEOG and her American Idol mentor look.
I love G.U.Y. era fashion though, same with Seashell Girl. So pretty.

The GUY video
Anyway the BTW started basically as an extension of that video. The entire era is dark, religious, high fashion 1980s gayness. Alejandro was just the beginning.

While Alejandro is still the topic, let me just say that I REFUSE to believe that it came out almost 4 years ago. #nostalgia
G.U.Y. video is flawless and I recently explained it to my friends who are basic GP and they loved it.

Gaga. Is. Bisexual. the letter B in LGBT. I know that the gay and straight community always forget the B but don't negate her orientation.

When Just Dance came around, never once did I hear that her music was gay... If memory serves correctly she was labelled as cool and exciting hence "I want the old Gaga back".
The Fame Monster era came and she was labelled then as being weirder, crazier, etc...
It wasn't until Born This Way that she was heavily associated with being gay...
As far as from my perspective sees it...

If it were up to me, I would have split her promo campaigns into two distinct eras.
The art era would have followed her vision of Aura, Venus, G.U.Y. while the commercial/pop era would have been Applause, Do What U Want, and Gypsy. Fashion! would be the cute tour single.
