Now let me congratulate Bloomers for making this far and moving up to #2! I honestly thought you would be out in the first rounds with this rock/alternative album, but you've proven me wrong. I'm surprised and really happy to see you here, you're the dark horse of the competition for me! Continue the slayage!

While describing the songs however, you focused more on the sexuality aspect and this is ruled out when we take lyrics or vocals out of the picture. You also mentioned 'secret' elements but it would have been better if you described what they were. The way the instrumental grows throughout the song is your reason to send this track, but the same can be said about other tracks.

Believe me when I say I HATE going against a judge's thoughts but there are times I really need to. You know something's wrong when every other judge gives you a strong (almost perfect) score and one of them gives you the minimum. But that's not even the point, when I judged this game, there were times I disagreed with the panel, we all have our interpretations.
When bringing 'Can't Remember To Forget You' into this round, I wanted to surprise everyone and not play it safe. I knew no one would ever think of the song as sexual (we're talking about the song NOT the video) and I wanted to make you hear something you hadn't before. In this round we were supposed to say why the instrumental was our favorite off the album and I did it in a way not worth a 1,8 or 9 or whatever but more. I feel like you just focused yourself way too much in that sexual aspect.
Now, why would I describe the secret elements if I gave you the precise minutes they appear? I feel like, sometimes, you lack coherence because I did dig into one secret element and apparently I did wrong but you wanted me to focus on the others? What's your final thought?
And to wrap it up, no, there isn't any other song in SHAKIRA that completely blows in the end like 'Can't Remember To Forget You' does, maybe 'Empire' and even that isn't as strong. Not sure if you're familiar with the album.
Anyway, I appreciate all the hard work you're putting into the game and your thoughts but I'd appreciate if you could be a little bit more open to other's opinions and points of views. Balance the good and bad and not only focus in the worst part.
Oh and I am not mad at you, just had to say it.

Thank you Igor that's really nice of you to say.
I'm shocked; I mean, I never expected to be at this point in the competition.

I did completely forget. I've had so much running through my mind lately.
Anyway, I'll just say it here.
I'm so proud of the top 9! You guys are the ones that really wanted this. You fought to keep your essays on point and choose good songs every single round. It's easy to see who cares the most about this game by who makes it to this point. I'm glad to see such a diverse set of albums and contestants and I hope you all keep fighting for that winner spot.

Also the one round where every judge shows a little bit of leg is the one where JLO doesn't at all.

The reason my points are so polarizing as compared to the other judges - from what I've comprehended - is that we have judged the entries based on different criteria. As for me, the challenge was clear that a good instrumental is subjective, therefore the contestants had to
i - show why it's truly good
ii - explain why it's the best on the album instrumentation-wise
Most contestants didn't reply to both of these aspects, which explain the low scores.
About your essay, a big part was about the sexiness that it brings and I said that this instrumental doesn't ooze sexiness if we rip if off its lyrics and vocals. I didn't focus solely on the sexuality aspect, as I've also commented on the other parts of your essay. For example, the 'secret element' part. I appreciate that you gave links to back up your statement and by no means did I deny the existence of those elements. But the purpose of this challenge - again - was to sell the entry to me so that I'm convinced that it's indeed the best instrumental on the album. By just showing me the proof, you didn't explain what those sounds were, and I thought it would have made a greater impact if you did - to draw the listener/buyer in.
Another comment I wrote on was the last line where you said that you sent it because of the way that it blows out towards the end. Again, you didn't explained it explicitly for me to have a picture of what it really is, and I honestly can think of other songs from the album that has this blow-out factor - like you said, on Empire itself.
My apologies if I come off as illogical and if I seem to be focusing on the worst part. But if that was true, I wouldn't have written both the good and bad sides on each of my write-ups. Sometimes the bad surpasses the good, that's why it leads to a low score. I don't think that most of players this round answered the main focus - why the instrumental is the best on the album. Rather, most of you focused on explaining the instrumentation.

As I said I am not mad, I just wanted to make you see how I wasn't satisfied with your comment/rate to the entry. I still don't think it is worth a 1,8/10 but oh well! It's up to you, I guess

I understand your disappointment concerning my score, which you also expressed last round. Therefore I think it's time for me to explain how I award points to the entries so that other contestants can be aware of that as well, and not be confused.
When I read your entries, I don't just rate them based on whether I liked them or not, or whether a good entry should automatically receive a 10, or a 'bad' entry a 1.0. You all may have noticed that sometimes I praise an entry, but the contestant still receives a lesser score than expected. That's because I use a mathematical system to rate the entries. I derive from the challenge what is asked, and I scan for the answer in your entries. Based on how much you have catered to the challenge's need in your essay, I average your answers from your essay's length and gather the final score. That's why I always persist on the fact that you don't write off-topic things, because it cuts away from the essential parts and this brings your score down.

Right.
Now i also find it a bit ironic that Katy's latest album and Taylor's latest album leave in the same round...
All well
