Filled with interesting lyrics, great vocal performances, and experimental (well experimental for a pop album) sounds that shouldn’t work (but somehow do) Impossible Princess is like Ray of Light’s long lost sister. Her reflections on love, happiness, and sadness are quite different from anything she’s done before or after this album. This album manages to bring together so many different influences while still staying true to dance music. While I do love the post-Impossible Princess albums I’ve heard by Kylie, I can’t help but wonder what subsequent albums would’ve sounded like if she had continued experimenting musically, lyrically, and vocally.
Too Far – The album opener is an eerie, genre bending number about wanting, needing, begging, to emerge from the dark cloud of depression and find happiness. Kylie’s vocals are great on this song (she sustains the soprano high C in the middle). I have no idea why Kylie’s fans on this board do so much on this song, but it’s great, and I think it paints a great portrait of where Kylie was during at least part of the recording of this album. – 8.5
Cowboy Style – When is anyone else combining country with the most fringe dance-pop stylings and making it sound this great? YAAAASSSS Kylie!! Oh and let’s not forget her musings on new love. Instead of the corny “I love you/ You love me too” fodder of most pop songs, Kylie describes being with her lover as a chance to start anew in life and truly experience everything life has to offer her. Great job Kylie! – 10
Some Kind of Bliss – I don’t even know how I’d describe this song as far a genre goes. Pop mixed with country again maybe? But this song is about finding inner peace. It doesn’t connect with me as much as the previous two songs, but it’s still nice. – 7.5
Did It Again – On this song Kylie tells someone (herself?) to stop making negative decsions before they catch up with her. The light Middle Eastern influences give this song an extra “bop” factor. – 9
Breathe – AAAAHHHH BREATHE!!! I LOVE this song. Kylie floats on this calming track with mild electronica influences. – 10
Say Hey – This song is a bit eerie as well, and not just because of the music. The lyrics give me stalker teas (she’s going to disturb someone because she’s in the mood to ****? Girl wait til he wakes up!) Even though it’s a bit creepy, everything about this song works together to capture the mood. – 8.5
Drunk – Another nice vocal from Kylie. I like the music, it still sounds futuristic in 2013. Gives me “I’m going to outer space bitch”. I don’t exactly understand it lyrically, but ehhh. Doesn’t matter tbh. – 8
I Don’t Need Anyone – On this song, Kylie craves the experience of meeting and giving herself to someone new. She’s in the mood to explore and the lyrics fit the experimental music perfectly. It’s organic, but the heavy string instruments give it such a futuristic slant. Good, but not my favorite. – 7
Jump – A bit boring in my opinion. Maybe because it lacks the energy of songs like I Don’t Need Anyone, but it’s not soothing like Breathe. Maybe it’s just to slow. I don’t use. – 6
Limbo – This song starts great but doesn’t really manage to take you anywhere. – 7
Through the Years – This song sounds like something Fiona Apple would have made. It’s a bit jazzy. Nothing too special about it though. – 7
Dreams – In this song (which references the album’s title) Kylie expresses the desire to experience all of life’s extremes (good and bad, wealth and poverty, ect.). The Middle Eastern influences are a nice touch and I think this song sums up the album in a way. A great closer. – 8.5
Recommended To: Anyone who likes Ray of Light or The Velvet Rope. Kylie fans/stans. People who like somewhat experimental dance music (Björk but less polarizing).
Yay! It's such a great album, I feel like you underrated the end of the album though, I prefer Through the Years, Dreams, Limbo, and Breathe to Some Kind of Bliss and Cowboy Style
The only track thats not as good as the rest is I Don't Need Anyone but it is still decent.

I definitely prefer the first half of the album. It kinda slows down for me until Dreams. Oh and when the time rolls around, I'm gonna want you to present #10 & #9.
