The type of urban radio station you refer to isn't "the norm", and I was pretty clear when I said MM wouldn't be getting major airplay on urban radio - it will of course be getting some, but not enough to lead to anything substantial.

Paraphrasing Billboard, urban radio stations contribute very little these days to the Hot 100 and Airplay charts. A #1 song on the urban airplay chart would rarely break the Top #30 on overall airplay.

But you're talking about Pop radio playing urban songs not Urban radio playing pop songs. That isn't relevant. I agree on the 1st paragraph though.

1 play on Pop radio = 3 plays on Rhythmic = 5 plays on Urban

Really? No wonder songs like Usher's "Lemme See" chart at #2 on Hip-Hop/R&B Songs but barely reach the top 50 on the Hot 100.

Lemme See did well on rhythmic. It's the lack of pop airplay (and as a result digital downloads) that let it down tbh, since pop is by far the biggest format, and also, the people that listen to urban don't seem to download legally very much. Some songs are hits on urban, do absolutely nothing on iTunes, and then when they crossover to pop they suddenly start shooting up iTunes.

Also pop radio overall has like 6/7 times as many listeners. It's just spread out across more stations.

I think MM could get playlisted on Adult Contemporary stations. She should focus on Pop, Rhythmic and AC for MM imo.
