1. Girls don't like girls: It's a longstanding trend on "American Idol," whose audience is overwhelmingly female -- girls don't vote for the female contestants. Blame it on same-gender envy or the crush factor (this year's prime beneficiaries: Scotty McCreery and Paul McDonald), as Naima pointed out after her elimination last week, but it's simply a fact of "Idol" life. One by one, the girls get plucked like the petals of a flower. Watch them go…
|
This is the obvious reason. 5 women eliminated and only 2 left.
Sadly the best of them (Pia) was eliminated too
Now the Adam Lambert wannabe will win this

Not to dash your dreams, but I think you're going to have quite an odyssey ahead of you. The Legion of Prepubescent Girls appears to be unbeatable.

Pia Toscano's "Idol" Dismissal Outrages Celebrities
Quote:
Pia Toscano wasn't the only person shocked by her dismissal from "American Idol" this week: we've never seen a celebrity reaction like this before! Some of the biggest names in Hollywood and music have voiced their disapproval of America's decision on Twitter...Tom Hanks? Really?
If you thought Tom Hanks was off somewhere producing another big-budget mini-series about World War II this week, then you picked the wrong chocolate out of the box. Tom Hanks was at home, planted right in front of "American Idol" cheering on the beautiful Pia Toscano.
Tom Hanks insists he's not an "Idol" regular; but Thursday night when Toscano, 22, was eliminated, Hanks erupted on Twitter -- along with a slew of other celebrities -- to cry out about the "American Idol" injustice: "Don't have an 'Idol' habit, but how could the USA vote Pia off? I may be done for the season."
Ashton Kutcher agreed: "Who are the people that vote on American Idol? That's just crazy! That Pia girl is dope. [It's] almost criminal." (So clearly you don't vote, Ashton?)
One-time "Idol" reject (and now mega-superstar) Jennifer Hudson tweeted, "I can not believe they just eliminated pia ! ReAlly..???? Long as she walked away with that voice she will be alright !! Just hate to see talent like that go!" [sic]
Even Snooki voiced up: "Pia should have won the whole thing! I'm not watchin Idol anymore. I'm with JLO on this one..." ("American Idol" judge Jennifer Lopez fought tears after Pia's elimination was announced and said, "I have no idea what just happened here ... I'm shocked. I'm angry. I don't know what to say.")
Randy Jackson knew what to say, as he reminded America,"No one is safe; you've got to vote for the ones you love."
And Steven Tyler, who was open about his fondness of Pia, told the crowd his theory: female "American Idol" viewers are jealous of Pia Toscano's good looks, and male viewers aren't voting.
An interesting development late Friday suggested that investigators were looking into whether Pia Toscano's elimination could have been due to a voting glitch...stay with LimeLife for the udpates.

She is not better than Pia and she is not marketable at all.

LOLOL. Siobhan better than Pia??? Siobhan had ONE good performance, and that was Think - (And, even then, that "glory note" was a little too shrill for my tastes.) ALL of Pia's performances have been stellar. Don't really get that comparison.

Haley's recordings are great, but Pia's are out of this world. I'll Stand By You is flawless, All By Myself is as good as Celine's, and All in Love Is Fair is an epic masterpiece - right up there with Streisand's cover.

2. Lack of guidance by the judges: With the new judges so positive pretty much all the time, the audience seems unsure of who to vote for. It's not like the show needs a bully to function, but when you're faced with the decision of choosing the best in a group of greats, some professional insight is called for and these judges are failing on that front. Suggestion: let Jimmy Iovine have a turn to tell it like it really is. Even a short segment at the end of the live show running down his thoughts on all of the finalists would work, no matter how disjointed it might turn out.
3. Presumptive Winner Syndrome: Or PWS, as I like to call it -- it's when everybody is so universally convinced that a contestant will win, that they basically neglect or forget to vote for that finalist. It's been Pia's problem from the very beginning, when it was insinuated that she might be a plant. Why? Because she's so perfect! That's why I criticized her pageant queen-ness, but I was also one of the millions who simply presumed that she'd be the victor.

The finalists surrounded Pia as she buried her head in Jacob's chest and was approached by judges Randy Jackson, Jennifer Lopez and Steven Tyler. Haley Reinhardt wiped away tears and prompted the audience to cheer for Pia. Stefano, who has managed to stay in the competition after consistently landing in the bottom three week after week, looked downright destroyed and guilty that he secured a spot on the couch over Pia. While Paul McDonald and James Durbin consoled him, it made us wonder when Stefano's luck is going to run out.
