Here's the past few I've watched.
Super Size Me A+
We recently had to watch this in health class, although I had previously watched it in both science and physical education. This is one documentary you don't want to skip out on. It gives you nothing but the truth as you watch a man get sicker and sicker as he continues to eat nothing but McDonald's food. Every time after watching the film, the thought of McDonald's food almost makes we want to throw up. In fact, I can't even eat it now. It also has great graphics to help you easily understand what Morgan is trying to say in the film, which also helps you keep entertained. Yes, this is definitely a film you must see.
Alice in Wonderland A+
I have to admit, I was a little weary of seeing this film. I did enjoy Tim Burton's take on Charlie in the Chocolate Factory, so I figured I'd give this film a chance, and I'm glad I did. The story was definitely different from the Disney animated film from years back. I haven't read the books, so I'm not sure which one is more true to their story lines. I rather enjoyed seeing this new twist in the story. It was almost like it was a live-action sequel to the animated film. The acting was great. Anne Hathaway and Johnny Depp give outstanding performances, while Mia Wasikowska and Helena Bonham Carter also give great performances. The visuals were absolutely stunning as well! The blending of the characters into the CG world was great, but what really took me back was the outstanding appearance of the characters who were half CG and half live-action, such as the Red Queen and the Tweedles. This is definitely one film you don't want to miss.
The New Daughter A-
I had never heard of this film before when we rented it, but I'm always a fan of horror/thriller films, so I decided to check it out. The story was nice. A newly divorced father moves his children to a new place where his daughter turns into an evil creature. It was memorable, and better than some story lines from recent horror/thriller films. The acting was a little sub-par. Kevin Costner gives a memorable performance, and Ivana Baquero even shines in her role, but most of the actors seemed to have been randomly picked. The direction was good for the most part as well. The visuals were good for most of it, but the creatures seemed to have been a rip-off of the aliens in Signs. The last scene was visually appealing as well. All in all, it's definitely a film you should check out, but it's not one I'd want to see over and over and over again.
Toy Story A+
Disney/Pixar never disappoints. This film is a classic! The story is outstanding! Just toys who talk is cool, but adding in the fact that one toy is jealous of a new toy when he thinks his owner likes the new toy over him, the story becomes original and heart warming. Also, it has such a star-studded cast. Tom Hanks and Tim Allen give stellar performances. There are also many other smaller stars who give life to the toys in a way that makes you almost believe your own toys come to life. 15 years later, the visuals are still stunning! I can't get over how much time the animators spent on this film. It's amazing.
Toy Story 2 A+
I never though Disney/Pixar could top Toy Story. Usually sequels aren't as good as the first films, but in this case, Toy Story 2 shines over Toy Story. The new characters in this film are just as lovable as the old characters. It was also great knowing all the actors came back to reprise their roles, which they gave an even better performance. It was almost as if they had come to love their own characters, and got into a groove that brings out something in the characters that wasn't there in the first one. Both films are amazing, and they're definitely worth adding to your film collection.
Scream 3 A
Scream has always been a top favorite horror series of mine, and the third installment doesn't disappoint. All the twists and turns in the film keep you hooked. It's more of a mystery, really, with a killer thrown in. The acting is good, too, but I did notice that at times there are some corny lines. It's not totally their fault, either. Wes Craven did seem to get a little lazier with this one. However, they made up in visuals for this one. The blood looked more real than the last two, and the overall sense of the film seemed to be a higher quality than the first two. Overall, it's a good film that any horror/thriller fan should enjoy.
