Charm School, while a fun game, is first and foremost a learning experience. It was conceived from the belief of Headmasters Ammer and boyonce that one should try to be known on ATRL for positive reasons rather than negative reasons. In a forum overrun with fighting and hate, we strive to demonstrate kindness, logic, maturity, understanding, and wisdom. While being an angry stan is perhaps the more popular way to be here, we see the value in cultivating a positive reputation.
From these beliefs, Charm School was created. Ammer and myself wanted to create a game and learning experience that would invite messy or unknown posters to take part in a series of assignments that would help transform them into a better member of our community.
This semester, our students took part in the following classes and assignments:
- History (looking back and apologizing for past behaviour)
- Music (finding a positive and inspiring song to be their new anthem for personal change)
- English (writing high quality, insightful and coherent posts on a variety of topics)
- Science (finding chemistry with a fellow competitor and forging a new friendship)
- Debate (dragging and arguing in a classy, respectful, and mature manner)
- Math (adding something new and positive to the ATRL community)
- Politics (considering their reputation with ATRL peers)
All of these assignments provided the students with a new idea, concept, or skill that helped better themselves.
For their final assignment, students were asked to prepare a speech for Graduation. All three students did an exceptional job, and made the Faculty's decision that much harder...
