I can't believe ARTPOP was a year ago. I loved all of the pre-release, from Applause to the radio snippets to the leak. I wan't registered here then so I look forward to live the next album release with y'all. I can't wait to see what happens with the second single this time
It's only been a year but it feels like so so much longer for me. It feels like it's at least 2 years for me
I agree. It feels like so much happened this era, but yet not enough. It's been such a rollercoaster, not at all what I expected, but it's been amazing all the same. I think going through everything has been good for both Gaga and the fanbase.
Hopefully next era everyone will be grateful for any success we get rather than looking at her past numbers, and will appreciate the music rather than the number it hit on Billboard.

tbh i would in no way say that this was a good thing for the fanbase or Gaga.
the fanbase was frustrated most of the time, a lot of people left, we got no info on anything whatsoever, etc.
Gaga evidently went through a lot of ****, seeing a project that's really important to you fail hurts a lot and being left by people left and right is hell. I think it still hurts her a lot, she still seems so grateful when people let her know they love artpop.

It was a good thing. The past 12 months have been a lesson to Gaga and her fans alike.
Her learning that she is not indestructible will mean that next time she doesn't debut with the numbers everyone is telling her she will, she won't get depressed and have a 2 month blackout mid-era. She's said herself that she's much more grounded and you can tell.
It's also meant that the fans here for the charts have mostly left. The ones we have now really love, care about, appreciate and respect Gaga and her work, as well as her message. We've also had Cheek to Cheek which has been a huge success and has shown Gaga that the public do not completely hate her and they do see and hear her talent and beauty.
This past year has been a rocky road but it's a road we all had to travel.

Gaga's music saw chart success when it was great music though. She's lost the chart presence because the material isn't up to scratch. That's really the only problem. She just needs to make amazing pop music again instead of mediocre pop music. Sorry but it's true.
I listened to The Fame in full again today and the first four tracks literally **** on everyone else's discographies ever, including all of my other faves. She was just SO GOOD back then.

I love you for saying this. This is so much better, honest, and respectful than the usual "SHE NEEDS TO LEARN FROM HER MISTAKES SO SHE WON'T FLOP. SHE NEEDS TO LEARN TO WORK WITH PROFESSIONALS!" The problem with ARTPOP wasn't the music, it was Gaga giving in and giving up when things became too rough. Hopefully she now knows the world won't end when people aren't praising her left and right. Up until ARTPOP, people mostly praised everything she did. I know we all talk about how BTW was her downfall and was when the backlash started, but ARTPOP was the true backlash, the true downfall, not BTW. The whole reason the "Lady Gaga is over" thing seems like it's been going on for so long is because we thought BTW was the downfall and so for us it's been happening since 2011, but it really didn't happen until last year. And now that it has happened, she can start to rebuild.
I really love the Applause video. And the whole choreography during the second chorus, lord
Everything about Applause was perfect. Her team really knew what they were doing with this one. It was just the messy leakd and rush release that kind of stopped it from reaching anything higher than #4.

As much as I agree, she didn't really lose it. The only single that failed to 'chart' is G.U.Y.
Applause charted as high as her previous singles, outsold Yoü & I and will most likely end up outselling The Edge Of Glory & Alejandro in the US. DWUW had a decent radio peak & sold decently, especially in Europe.
Obviously I'm not denying people didn't like the album, otherwise it would have sold much more than 1.8M WW. But it's clearly not as bad as the media & people on here think it is.
And yes, TF(M) is amazing. But unfortunately, as she said, it was also the era she was the most manufactured. We'll never have something like that again, probably.
