Single: Lady Gaga - "G.U.Y."

She's still looked at as a staple in the pop/music landscape by the GP. She's just not the one getting the most attention or controversy, that's Bey or Miley. But she's just starting to have a single on the radio again so just let it grow naturally. This isn't some new anticipated single with a huge conTroverSal viral video so give it time. At the end of the day, a you and I/Lovegame sized hit isn't out of the question just yet

Also, if it rises/smashes it'd be amazing, but it won't be as big as singles from TF or TFM era, but it shouldn't really matter tbh

She had the 9th most successful album of 2013 with 2 months of sales. Yes she's still one of the biggest

Question not related to G.U.Y., but does anyone know what happened to DJWS? He seems out of the Gaga equation lately. Not that I'd be upset about that.

Yeah honestly I would just give the middle finger to the GP and start a family.

His debut was a rip-off of Just Dance.

Are we really writing Gaga off because of a few missteps? Born This Way was an overall massive success regardless of whether Marry The Night did well or not.. Applause did well. Do I need to remind you the amount of times Madonna and her peers have underperformed, and even flopped beyond oblivion in their careers, and they still came out on top, and had many many successful eras afterwards.
Madonna has had flops in her career at her peak, and still came out on top bigger than ever.
The entire mid-90's besides a few singles like Secret, I'll Remember etc was nothing but a huge underperformance for Madonna, and the media were extremely cuthroat with her and wouldn't back down. Especially during the Erotica/Bedtime Stories eras. She came back on top with Ray Of Light and Music. Had one of the biggest disappointments of her career with American Life, and came back HARDER than ever at another career peak with Confessions On A Dancefloor.. Saying someone is over because of a few underperformances or a shotty era is just ridiculous!

What I noticed about general media and society is that in like 2010 it was cool to be the artsy weird outcast and gaga nurtured it. But now it seems to have flipped back where it's cool to be the Katy Perry, the pretty, vapid, non serious fun girl tbh.

Actually I do want Gaga to smash. I want her to smash so people can bandwagon her again. Then I want her to flop so tees bandwagon can suffer

I expected worse from that VH1 thing. So she told the paps where to shoot her, it's not the worst thing the media could say about her.

To be fair, it always has been like that. When Gaga debuted, she was seen as a pretty, vapid, non serious fun girl. The perception of her has changed, and I doubt she'll get that back.

they dug deep for something negative to say when there really wasn't anything. frankly, it is pathetic. it just shows how desperate they were for a story.

Yes Adele started a bandwagon where people thought that if they told others that they liked Adele they came off as cool, indie and mature and above mainstream pop when Adele herself is mainstream pop, they could still get their pop bops while coming off as mature and cool

Funny thing is, Marry The Night really did not do that badly either. Gags killed off BTW when she made YAI a WW single. She promoted the song beyond all get out, and was a massive flop for her standards, but millions of artists would kill for that level of exposure and a 29 peak.

This is definitely one of Gaga's best songs. Heard it twice today on the radio

Also not true. Adele was never seen as an outcast in pop music. She paved her way in the UK around the same time as Gaga and wasn't seen as any less pretty or unfitting in comparison to other pop stars at the time. Fans were the ones who made issues with her weight, no one else. Adele played no part in image perception today.

Nope. That's not it. People need to realize that before BTW Gaga was a Poker Face singer and everyone bopped to it, they even bopped to the weird Bad Romance, but BTW - a LGBT exclusive and more than gay friendly record - threw off the GP, big time. Since then she's at best a guilty pleasure for a huge part of straight people. The gp is not here for her beacuse of BTW, not beacuse ARTPOP was a bad album. It's so obvious. Doing what she did with releasing BTW was a bad idea for her career, especially that early, even though she wanted it so bad. It backfired and is the main reason behind her decline.
